More power to e these two teams. The Monroe - Monroeville game i- which we announced Monday would e be played at Monroeville Friday night Will be played in the Decatur high r school gymnasium, instead. Our mist take. The second teams from the ~ two schools will play the preliminary 1 contest. s The Decatur and Huntington teach--1 ers clash again tonight in the I). H. S. . gym. The Junior band gets the pro- ] ceeds. 1 ] The Commodores began tapering I off their practice yesterday evening in piepaiation for the game with the . Berne Fighting Five here tomorrow night. If the Commodores win, it will be a ‘‘straight” victory — four ! straight wins for the Commodores. . and five straight losses for Berne. Maybe it won't be either. A new column, “Peruvian Passes," was started in the Peru Daily Tribune yesterday. This gives the Tribune two columns on the sport page, the veteran Tutes still continuing with his “Lampings." Peruvian Passes starts out the first day with a "Big Ten" selection as follows: Anderson, Bedford. Frankfort, Franklin, Logansport, Mitchell, Muncie, Martinsville, Peru, Rochester. His Big Ten will be revised after Peru plays the Yellow Jackets here Jan. 27. if not before. Buckner, in the Bluffton Banner, says: "The Tigers h ive been working out right pert-like this week and today we believe they arc 'one-point better than yesterday, so they should beat Decatur 16 points " Buck’s lieen adding point to his prediction every day this week. About 8:45 o'clock FHday night, if not before, ho will begin subtracting, and it won't be one at a time, cither. Rip Offs, in the Bluffton News, ripped off nearly three columns of chatter yesterday and the DecaturBluffton game received its full share. We’d like to reprint all he said about the coming battle, but lick of space prevents. Here's a smattering: “Coach Louis Means, as popular a coach as Bluffton has’ ever had, is putting his Tiger warriors through some stiff performances these days for the classic of the year—the Yellcw Jacket-Tiger combat. We’ve used the word “classic" until it is fairly worn out, but no other word is more applicable on the eve of a great basketball occasion. Fans have utmost confidence in Coach Means and his men. They know they will spare no effort—spare nothing in the line of good sportsmnnship to win over Decatur— age-old rivals. “If they are defeated (we don’t think they will be by any means) all of us will take the trimming gracefully as trimmings are always acceptable at Thanksgiving and Christmas times. It’ we have to bo defeated, we’d just as leave let Decatur do it these days. On the other hand,, we’d rather beat them than any other team —decisively, overwhelmingly and lastingly. What we mean is that where there used to be flagrant bitterness and misunderstandings between the two towns there now prevails good sportsmanship in its most unadulterated form. Bluffton players and fans really pride themselves on a sort of an affection for Decatur—a brotherly feeling, so to speak and as it were. But, be it known, what boy doesn’t seek to outrun and outdo a brother? We don’t at all mean to infer the Tigers aren’t going to work and fight and scrap to the last ditch to down the Yellow Jackets. It will be a glorious victory and we are already relishing it." His Gift—Shirts, Socks. Ties, Hankies, Hath Robes, Belts—at Vance & Linn.
