Dancing Mothers’ has a story to tell which is of decidedly popular appeal. The audience last night showed sincere appreciation for it too." The writer for the News-Sentinel also praised the piece highly, writing: 1 " ‘Dancing Mothers’ the offering of the Wright Players at the Majestic theatre this week, is a drama with little hint of comedy in its makeup.’’ | “ 'Dancing Mothers’ does not end in a conventional vain. Perhaps this tact accounted for its long run in New York." "The play probably will appeal strongly to the modernists, while it offers an object lesson to wilful daughters and pleasure seeking husbands.” It-Advt, o Elderly Architect Injured Terre Haute, lnd„ De<\ 14—(INS) —Confined in St. Anthony's hospital, a part of which he designed, Robert Vrydagh, elderly architect, was in a serious condition today from injuries received when the bioycle he was riding was struck by an automobile. HOOSIERS SMOKE MA NV CIGARETTES I I Eight “Pills” Are Lit Every Second; 2,778,750,000 Smoked Annually Indlanapoll, Dec. 14 --(UP)- Indiana smokers light eight elgarrettes a second. day and night, day In and day out to burn up 2,773.750,000 of them in a year. Every man woman and child in the state's 3,750,00 population would have to smoke 741 cigarettes annually to make this total. If five minutes are dedevoted to the smoking of each cigarette, smokets put in, in the aggregate 2,566 years of time puffing up one year's quota of fags. These are some of the deductions made from statements of the three leaders of the vlgarette industry, J. R. I Reynolds Tobacco Co, American Tobacco Co. and Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co. These firms produced 39,000,000,000 cigarettes last year for domestic consumption and predict the growing popularity of the cigarette among women will push the figures much higher this year. if 89,000,000,000 was the nation's consumption. Indiana on a prorata basis smoked 2,778,750.000 of them, figuring on a national population cf 120.000,000. To supply more data for the organized foes of the pattered weed these ligules also may be calculated to offer the following: Indiana cigarette smokers light up 7,613.010 "pills" a day 817.200 an hour cr 5.280 every minute. If the state's annual cigarette consumption is a subject to the old end-to-end comparison, the white line would extend some 120,000 miles or about five times around the earth. o Tuberculosis Is Best Understood Os Diseases Indianapolis, Dec. 14 (UP) —Popular educational campaigns throughout the United States have made tuberculosis the best understood and tho most intelligently combatted cf all diseases through which man is cursed according to Dean Stanley Coulter, chairman of the annual Christmas Seal Sale for Indiana Tuberculosis Association.
