OIL COMPANIES ARE VINDICATED Court Frees Oil Companies From Charges Os Violating Anti Trust Laws Chicago, Dec. 9 —(UP) —Master In Chancery Charles Martindale will tile l report In U. S. district court here ©day vindicating the Standard Oil ionipany of Indiana and fifty other oil iotnpanies of charges of violating l lie jherntan anti-trust laws by an alleged monopoly of trade. Th report, made public last night, ecommended dismissal of the suit, tarted three years ago, for want of quity. Martindale, appointed special master three years ago, has spent two years in hearing evidence and another year !n preparing his findings. The report, made public List night, deuce of an existing conspiracy in restraint of trade, of maintenance of a monopoly or of price fixing as had been alleged by the government. Nor did the report show- finding of evidence to support a charge of pooling Os patent rights. Three district judges sitting en banc, will hear arguments of government counsel before acting on Martindale’s findings. o COURT HOUSE Suit To Foreclose Arthur and Iva M. Shock have filed a suit in the circuit court against John E. and Nanneta Kern, seeking judgment on a note for $10,200 and foreclosure of a mortgage on a 160-acre farm in St. Marys towqship. The plaintiffs also ask that a receiver be ap-! pointed by the court to tak chaige of the rents and profits from the real i estate. Attorney Dore B. Erwin is counsel for the plaintiffs. Rome —(UP>—Latest statistics here show that there are 9,118.593 expatriated Italians living In different parts of the world. The figure is probably even greater than this, as the consular returns from some countries are confessedly incomplete. The greatest number of emigrated Italians live In the American continent. Between North and South and Central America, 7,674,583 Italians are accounted for. Asks For Aid In Keeping Fort Harrison In Indiana Indianapolis. Dec. I—(Vf)—Secretary of State Fredrick E. Scbortetneier has issued a statewide request for nil civic organizations to aid Indianapolis organizations In obtaining the retention of Fort Benjainn Harrison as a major army post. Schortemeier declared that only with the full cooperation of every civic organization in the state will the major fort be kept here. "Retention of the fort is not only of importance to Indianapolis but is of paramount importance to every cltltten of the state. “Located near the approximate center of population of the nation it is admirably situated for transportation of troops to whatever point they are needed,'* he said. By each club passing resolutions endorsing the action of Indianapolis organization in attempting to retain the fort, and by writing to Senators and Representatives from the state it will he called to the attention of the war department. "It would be false economy on the part of the nation to abandon 2,90(J acres of excellent reservations, and a fort that has cost more than $1,500,000 to construct." the secretary pointed out
