The regular devotional program las conducted by Mrs. Ben DeVor. ’lans were made, during a business ession which followed, for the Christmas party and exchange. December was the date arranged and the party till be held at the h4me of Mrs. M. E. lower, North Fourth street. Mrs. Wilon Beery was appointed chairman of committee on arrangements. After the business session closed, the hostesses served very delicious refreshments. . MOTOR TRIP TO FLORIDA , A. R. Bell and Walter Bluhm will leave Monday morning on a motor trip ( tq Miami, Florida, and other points of interest in the south. They expect to be absent a month, planning on a week to go and a week to return and two weeks there. At Miami, they will t visit Mr. Bell's daughter, Mrs. J. J. E. , MEASURING PARTY The Senior Christian Endeavor|of ( the Zion Reformed church held a mea- . suring party in the church parlors, Fri- , day evening. Each guest was measur- , ed as they entered, the sum of five cents a foot and one cent for each additional inch, being charged. A total , sum of nine an done half dollars was realized from the measure. Games furnished diversion for the evening, after which refreshments were served by Misses Lillian Worthman, Marie Koi-' ter and Lorena Reppert. PHOEBE BIBLE CLASS ELECTS NEW OFFICERS The Phoebe Bible Class of the Zifti Reformed Sunday school held its regular social and business meeting Thursday evening in the chinch parlors with Mrs. Harry Knapp acting as hostess. The election of officers for the new year -was held with the following result: President, Mrs. Albert Mutschler; vice-president. Mrs. Fred Fruchte, Treasurer, Mrs. Irvin Miller; and secretary, Mrs. Harry Knapp. In a contest, Mrs. Floyd Arnold was awarded i the prize. Following the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed and dainty refreshments served by the hostess. Misses Monia Butler, Verneal Whalen, Mabie Staley and Lucile Cain motored to Fort Wayne, Friday evening and attended “The Vagabond King" at the Shrine Auditorium. The Mary and Martha Class of the Methodist Sunday school will meet Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Hany Butler at seven-thirty o'clock. The committee in charge have aranged a special program and every member is urged to be present. LEAGUERS ENJOY "FIESTA OF NATIONS” The members of the High Schoo! Epworth League of the Methodist church held a most delightful party in the Sunday school room of the church, Friday evening. The party took the form of an International j Fiesta of Nations. All the members came dressed in costumes represent-) ative of the different nations of the 1 country. Miss Helen Haubold, dressed as an American Indian, was awarded the prize. The guests were then conducted on a visit to the different nations which they portrayed in their regalia. Misses Helen Shroil, Geraldine Hower. Virginia Hite and Helen Haubold were principals in a Parisian style sh-'w. From there, the visitors went to Italy where they were entertained by Italian Grand Opera. Sunday school room was decorated for the party, with four large American flags and clusters of flags of the various nations. The lights were 1 shaded in red, and candles burned I softly throughout the room. Twentyfour members enjoyed the glorious affair which was declared by all present to he one of the biggest successes of the social season. The party was in charge of Miss Isabel Hower,' fourth vice president of the League and supervised by Mrs. Ross W. Stoakes. This same group of young ineople will motor to Monroe Sunday , afternoon, at one-thirty o'clock, where they will attend the League Rally. Watts, united Thursday evening in entertaining at a six o’clock dinner and shijwer tor Mrs. Doyt Pettit, .formerly Miss Merle Marharke. A chicken dinner was enjoyed after which games were,, played and prizes won by Clara Egley, Nora Dugion and |1 Margaret Myers. The prizes were in turn presented to the guest of honor. Mrs. Pettit was presented with many beautiful gifts which included the good - wishes of the guests. Minister Berlin, Nov. 12 —(INS) —Dispatches from Bucharest today described a 1 diplomatic incident as a result of which, it was reported, Roumania may request the recall of United States I Minister Culbertson. Culbertson, the dispatches stated, left his calling card at the jail for Manoilescu, former Roumanian secretary of State, whose trial for high treason against the Braitianu government starts today. Roumanian governmental and diplomatic circles were said to have been highly excited by the American minister’s action and asked Washington for an explanation. Manoilescu Is charged with having aided a movement to overthrow tile present Roumanian regime and place former Crown Prince Carol on the throne. o Anti-Prohibition League Incorporated At Hammond Hammond, Ind., Nov. 12 —(UP) — Articles of incorporation were drawn up in Hammond today for the AntiProhibition league of America, an organization which will seek to repeal tile Indiana Bone Dry (Wright) law. to modify the Volstead act so as to permit the use of light wines and beers and to i epeal the eighteenth amendment. Headquarters of the league are in Gary. The officers are, J. F. Burns, president; Rex Gavanaugh, vice president and O. Waible, secretary. The league expects to take an active part in politics. Its scope will be national. It wil seek legislation that will produce revenue through a lawful control ct' the liquor business.

Arnold claims that lie successfully dodged five revolver bullets at clou range. ' The man, escorting Louise Hayden, negro domestic from her place of em- ' ployment, was confronted by William McClelland, a former suitor of the woman, who stepped from the sbad--1 ows with a drawn revolver. Accodring to Arnold the business end of the pistol yawned like the mouth of Vesuvius and belched forth ' five bullets directed at his heart. When the smoke of battle cleared, 1 Arnold stood, wet, but unscathed. Willie either disgusted at his marksmanship or convinced he had been firing at a phantom, threw away his gun and tied. Police recovered the ‘ pistol.
