T * Ibobo resident ■CELEBRATES 77th BIRTHDAY On Friday evening, Mrs. Henry ColL, ,q Hobo, celebrated her 77th birthlay. A tine supper was enjoyed by all (hose present, consisting of their four ions and their families; Mr. and Mrs. IV. A. Colter and daughter, Mrs. Hernan Myers, of Willshire, Ohio, Mr. md Mrs Ben S. Colter and sons Donild, Dean and Robert, of Bobo; Mr. mil Mrs. Earl Colter and sons, Dick, Jim and Tom. of Decatur, and Mr. and His Charles H. Colter, of Decatur. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed >y all present, the time being spent n reminiscence of by gone days. Mr. ind Mrs. Henry Colter came to Decatur in 1881 from eastern Ohio. They have spent a very happy married life being married more than 56 years. The children and grandchildren of mother Colter wish for her many more happy birthday occasions of this sort. MEETING OF MONROE LADIES AID Thursday Nov. 4 at the home of Mrs. Smith, one and yme-half miles south of Monroe, the Ladies Aid Society of the Monroe Methodist church numbering forty-four enjoyed a day's quilting and carpet rag-sewing Tw< uty-seven members and seventeen visitors were present. Two quilts were quilted for Mr. Parr and carpet rags sewed for Mrs. Smith. A most delightful lunch was served and everyone throughly enjoyed the day and expressed their willingness for a repetition of it soon. Rev. and Mrs. Foster entertained the ladies with several readings and vocal numbers. The Phoebe Bible class will meet next Thursday at the Reformed church I'ailms at seven-thirty o’clock. Mrs. Harry Knapp will be the entertaining hostess. This meeting will be the elec tion of officers and a good attendance is desired. Tile Catholic Ladies Social Club will give a card party next Wednesday evening, November 9 at eight o’clock, at the D. C. H. S. auditorium. Bridge, Five Hundred and Rhum will he played. Lunch will be served in the dining room, following the games, by the ladies in charge. The public is cordially invited to attend. Tickets are being sold for twenty-five cents and may be purchased from any of the ladies or admission may be paid at the door. Bingo wil also be played during the i vetting. The committee in charge is composed of: Mrs. Lee Lawless chairman; Mrs. T. C. Smith, Mrs. Jess Kuhn, Mrs. Fred Beimer, Mrs. Theodore Lengerich, Mrs. Carl Steigmeyer, Mrs. Raymond Kohne, and Mrs. Paul Ihiede. TO ATTEND wedding reception Mr. and Mrs. G, H. Wehmeyer and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gerberding will motor to Fort Wayne this evening, "here they will attend the wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Walter thrasser. Mi»s Mirgaret Pfeiffer and •lr. The Historical Club will meet on Thutsday of next week instead of Wednesday, because of the Pythian Convention which convenes at Ossian on Wednesday. Membets are requested to ’ note the change in date. — BEN HUR HARD TIME SOCIAL The Ben Hurs enjoyed a hard time social, Friday evening, in their lodge ' rooms. There was a good attendance. A program of contests and games furnished entertainment for the evening , Mrs. Olin Baker, accompanying herself at the piano, gave two vocal solos and Mrs. Mary Blossom gave a reading. After a general social hour, a cafeteria style luncheon was enjoyed. The hostesses for the party were Mrs. Mary Blossom, Mrs. Rosie Veuis, Mrs. Permelia Weis, and Mrs. Win Thornton. WALTER LEAGUE PRESENTS PLAY TONIGHT "A Poor Married Man’’ is the title of a comedy-farce to be presented tonight and tomorrow night by the Immanuel Walther League at the Bleeke school, eight o’clock. Those taking part in the cast of the play are Herman Bleeke, Victory Bleekp, Herman Krueckeberg. Hugo Blakey, Sal Reinking, Gretchen Bleeke, Emma Blakey, and Ruth Hoile. I CIVIC CLUB SELL, PLAY TICKETS Tile Civic Section of the Woman's Club is selling tickets for the play. “Phillippa Gets There” which will !■_ presented by a local cast, Monday ev- I cuing, November 14 at the high school I auditorium, under the direction of Mrs. 1 James R. Blair. Adult tickets are sell- | ing for fifty cents and children's-tick- i ets for thirty-five cents. Ladies who I ■ have a membership in the Woman's g Club are entitled to admission as the play will also furnish a regular club program. Guest tickets, however, will not be accepted for this program. Members of the cast have been rehearsing for the past- two weeks and a splendid evening's entertainment is assured all those who attend the production. Members of the cast include Miss Jeanette Clark, Miss Marcella Hower. Miss Dorothy Walters, Edwina Shroll Mrs. P. Brice Thomas, Mrs. Chalmer Porter, Mr. Roy Mumma, Dr. Glen Neptune, Mr. Herman Myers, Mr. Don Farr, and Pat Hyland. The tickets sale is under the personal direction of Mis. It. M. Farr. LARGE DELEGATION ATTENDS CONVENTION The 44th annual convention cf the Woman’s Home Missionary Society of the North Indiana Conference of the Methodist church, was held in Portland, Thursday and hi iday. The convention proved to lie the largest and best to date. A banquet on Thusrday evening was carried out in the idea of the fiftieth anniversary, which is soon approaching. Mrs. F. F. 1 bombing, wife of Rev. Thornburg who is the District Superintendent of the Richmond Dictrist and former Decatur pastor, was elected president for the ensuing year. Next year’s meeting will be held at Marion. Local persons appearing on the program were Mis. Dau Tyndall, who gave a vocal solo on Thursday, and Miss Faye £tults, formerly of this city but now of Fort Wayne and connected with the Fort Wayne Neighborhood Home. Miss Stults proved to lie. the most interesting speaker on the program and was very clear and definite in all her remarks in describing the endeavors cf the Neighborhood Homes.
