Small ■ tables were arranged throughout the ■ rooms of the Dorwin home on First ■ street, and a most delicious dinner was ■ served. Bridge and I muic furnietied the diversion for the | remainder of the evening. The six patronesses of the Sorority, Mrs. C. E. Bell. Mrs. John Tyndall, Mrs. French Quinn, Mrs. F. E. France, Mm. Dan Sprang an Mrs. Eugene Runyon were also guests at the dinner. DUTIFUL DAUGHTERS MEET AT UHRICH HOME The Dutiful Daughters class of the Evangelical Sunday school met at the home of Miss Emma L'hrich Tuesday night. Twenty members, one guest and several children were present. During the business session, the members selected the month in which they wish to entertain the clAss during the coming year. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Eugene Runyon, teacher of the class. The annual election of offij cers will be held at that time, and a fifty-cent Christmas,exchange will be | held. Following the business session last night, Mrs. Faye Mutschler gave I two delightful reading and a flower I contest was held. Mrs. Fred Chronls ter won first prize and Mrs. Ulva Tern Plin received second prize in the tontest. The hostess served a dainty lunch SURPRISE SHOWER given for bride-elect fifteen members of the Young Peoples Missionary Circle of the Evangelical church met at the church at 6 o clock*last night and went to the borne of Miss Hester Martz for a surprise shower and pot-luck supper. Many varieties of delicious food were spread on th*i table and a large white , bow was tied to Miak Maftz’ chair. I lie president of the Circle Sirs. Elmer Amspaugh, presented a beautiful end fable to Miss Martz in behalf of the ( ircle. Miss Martz was greatly surprised and delighted with the gift. Following the supper, a social hour was enjoyed, and all of the guests wished Miss Martz, who soon is to be married to Glen Barkley, a very happy marriage. The Pocohontas drill team will hold Piaetice Friday evening. All members are urged to be present. EVANGELISTS ' ENTERTAINED AT DINNER Mr. an.l Mrs. Janies N. Frlstoe had as their dinner guests, Monday,- Rev. Edward Jarboe, D.D., and wife, of Lincoln, Nebraska, who are conducting the evangelistic, meetings at Pleasant. Dale church, south of peter-, ton. Rev. Jarboe is conceded to be the leading evangelist of the Breth-
ren church in the United States and is in very great demand by the various churches. They will the meetings at Pleasant Dale, Sunday evening, and will return io their homo in Lincoln for a week’s vacation. The following week, they will resume their evangelistic work in the' southwest beginning at Kansas City-' The Jarboe's and Fristoe’s are per- 1 sonal friends, having formed an acquaintance last year at Lake Winona. BARBERS ENJOY RABBIf DINNER Following the closing of the Lose Barber shop at nine o'clock last evening, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Pingry entertained at a rabbit dinner at the'r apartment on West Monroe street The menu consisted of a 1 iMiuntifuJ supply of fried rabbit with all the "trimmings,'’ pie. cake and many other delicious viands. Those mjoying the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lose, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andrews and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Pingry. PSI IOTA XI’S ENJOY BRIDGE Mrs. Arnold Gerberding was hostess to the memliers of the Psi lota Xi sorority, Tuesday evening at her heme on Mercer avenue. HARRY MAGNER ENTERTAINS CARPE DIEM The members of the Carpe Diem Club were delightfully entertained, Tuesday evening, by Mrs. Harry Magner at her home on West Elm street. The entertaining rooms were decorated with baskets of yellow baby Chrysanthemums and asters. Music and a miscellaneous program was enjoyed and prizes for the contests were won bay Mrs. Freeh Hower, Mrs. Guy Brown, Mrs. Joe Hunter and Mrs. Albeit Beery. At the close of the meeting, the hostess served a delicious luncheon. The next meeting will lie held in two weeks with Mrs. Albert Beery. COMBINED MEETING OF U. B. SOCIETIES The Otterbein Giuld and Woman's Missionary Society of the United Bretlnen church, held a combined meeting, Tuesday evening, at the home of Mrs. Richard Hill, on North Ninth street. The attendance is Increasing each night. The church was crowded Sunday night. There were eighty children on each side of the speaker and the aisles were filled. A delegation of people came from Markle and several were present from Bluffton and Decatur. Some of the neighboring churches dismissed their services Sunday night and joined in the service at the Pleasitnt Dale church. The evangelist, the Rev. Edwin Jarboe, delivered a powerful sermon Sunday morning, choosing as his subject God's Love. His Aubject Sunday evening was the home. He said the most vital need of the nation today is Chrisi tian homes and he showed how the ■ home holds the keys to the nation’s ■ greatest problems.
