Preliminaries were run off yesterday. The track was soggy following a heavy rain and the poorest times in years were made in the dash events. Rain fell again last night giving further indication that none of the existing records would be endangered. —■ - o Rev. The airman has never been shot from such a contrivance so far as is known, but having demonstrated his ability to fly the ships provided for him in England and France, it is believed that a catapult and a navy plane would not perplex him. The “Spirit of St. Louis" is aboard the Memphis —in crates. The craft was dismantled at Gosport, Eng., and shipped to Southhampton, where the Memphis called so rit. Lindbergh went aboard the Memphis wearing the boots and riding breeches and leather coat in which he had left Le Bourget field. He shook hands with the officers who are his hosts. About 20,000 persons, including trans-Atlantic passengers, emigrants and fisher folk witnessed the departure, cheering so long as Lindbergh could hear. The flier said his final farewell to France, begging the Maritime perfect to express his thanks to the French government and promising to return to France. o Price Correction Through a mistake in this office the price of eggs appeared in the M. E. Hower advertisement in the Daily Democrat yesterday, at 18e which was wrong, the Hower grocery paying the same price as others which was 15c today. The line which was a part of the signature to an advertisement used two weeks ago was inserted without noticing that it contained the egg price. 0 Get the Habit—Trade at Home, It Paya SPECIAL MOOSE MEETING Tuesday evening, June 7, at Moose Home, Third street, at 7:30 p. m.
