November 4—Huntington, there. . o South Side Blue Racers Win Dual Track Meet In a dual track and f'eld meet held this morning, the South Side Blue Racers defeated the West Side Eagles by a score of 35-33. Several events were left out. owing to the fact that no suitable place could be held to hold them. Ladd was high point man of the meet, getting four first places and one third for a total of 21 points, C. Hill was next with 14 points, finish ng second in four events and th'rd in two. Masonbrink scored 9 po'nts for third honors. R. Ladd, captain of the Blue Racers and C. Hill, captain of the Eagles, agreed to hold a return meet at Bellmont Park. The Corsairs, however, bunched blows in the fourth inning when they counted both tallies. Tlie Chicago Cubs, right behind the Pirates for National League leadership lost ground by splitting even with the champion Cardinals. Monters by Bell and Bottomley enabled the Cards to take the first, pitched by u former Cub and outstuinding hero of the 1926 World's Series, Grover Cleveland Alexander. In the second game Sherdel win nicked for 12 hits and retired in the eighth inning. The Cubs won 8-4 . Although he was touched for 11 hits many cf them for extra bases, pitcher Willis Hudlin emerged victoiious in a slugfest with Detroit, 9-6. There were seven three-base hits. The Chicago White Sox won a double-headei from the St. Louis Browns the fiist 14-8. In the second Ted Lyons blanked the Browns 1-0.
