A wheel of the machine passed oyer his head but ( the skull was not fractured. A Warrpn physician stated he believed the youth would recover. The annual cost of the upkeep of the "Nelson," it Is officially estimated, will amount to more than $2,000,000. The main specifications of the "Nelson" are: Length on the waterline, 702 feet; beam, 108 feet; mean draught,*3o feet. Wise discovered mat a water well on his lot had turn-’ etl into a gasser, when he held a lighted match over the top of the pump. This well, 65 feet deep, went dry two years ago. Since then. Mr. Wise has heard occasional rumblings coming from the well but he thought nothing of it until he learned of -the gas well at the Webster home. Mr. Wise has had his “gasser” tapped anti the gas coming from the well is furnishing fuel for a light in his store and for cooking ami water heatleg in his home. * Each one of the two wells is said to be producing at least 2,0D0 cubic feet of gas per day. Figured at the rate of $2.50 per thousand, the rate paid for the artificial gas in Van Wert, each j well is producing sf> worth of gas . daily. How long the flow of gas will last is problematical. F. Carolina Gold Strike Stirs Wide Interest Charolette N. C. (United Press)— Far from the fteldsi of Weepah, a “gold strike" is on again in Carolina, with a woman preparing to start systematically mining the dust from hillsides of Gaston county. Site is Mis. C. B. Puett, of Beljuiont. lu whose family a "pay dirt" farm has lemained for years haii-hazardly mined by pan in days gone by. Gold has been found on lhe Puett farm for years, but while before the Civil War, the old Leper Mine, as it was called, was worked, it lias practically been suspended since. A few have panned the stream, giving a percentage of their earnings to tlie farm owners. The gold is saitl to lie in the bed of a mountain brook washed down from ore laden hillsides which will be washed with up to date machinery in this newest venture. ■C. W.
