- • .. - KIN OF DECATUR PEOPLE KILLED Mr. And Mrs. Brazie Brown And Daughter Killed By Freight Train In Michigan Brazie Brown, 48, his wife, Ida, aud daughter, Anna May, ugo 12, who have relatives In Decatur and Adams county, were killed late Monday night in an accident at a Big Four railroad grade crossing in tlte village of Sodas. Michigan, south of Benton Harbor. The Brown’s \v< re returning In their farm home between Sodus and Eau Claire in a blinding rain storm. A line of freight cars is said to have obstructed the view along the uniin line and, ns the small sedan reached the crossing, a Big Four freight train struck it, hurling 1 it against the standing curs. Mr. Brown was a son of tlio late Christian and Elizabeth Brown, wlio| were former resident* of this county.’ ills mother died at Eau Claire only aj few weeks ago. Mr. Brown was a nephew of Isaac Brown and Miss (Tara llrown, of this city. He was bom in Adams county. Benjamin J. Burris Dies Tuesday Night ■t * ■ m Benjamin .1. Burris, president of the Mancie branch of the Indiana State Normal school and former state superintendent of public instruction, died suddenly last night,'at Hope, Indiana. .Mr. Burris was to have given an address to the pupils of Decatur high school and to the Decatur school

teachers here a week from Thursday. He was known by many Decatur and Adams county residents. Mr. Burris' death occured while lie was eating dinuer at the homo of L. F. Carmichael, shortly before lie was to make the principal address at the Hope high school commencement. By action of the council, next week has been designated as the annual Clean - Up Week In Decatur and forces are being organized by the City Street Commissioner to haul away the winter’s accumulation of tin cans, bottles and other unsightly objects from the alleys. HERE IS WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DO Bather up all the tin cans from your back yard and alley and put them in a box or barrel so they ran he ph'ked up. City trucks will make a complete circuit of the city and gather up the boxes and barrels and dispose ol them. ASHES WILL NOT BE HAULED AWAY.
