HERD SIRES ARE INSPECTED I Many Purebred Dairy Herd Sires In County As Result Os “Bull Special” A puny (onslstitiy of C. W. Nevman, President of the Indiana Holstein Breeders Association, •J. H. HiltinJ Purdue Dairy Extension specialist, T. M. Palmer, Assistant Agricultural Agent of the Erie Railroad, and L M. Busche, county agent, made a tour of inspection .Monday, visiting the farms of the county where dairy herd sires ( - were placed at the time the ''Bull Train", was run on the Erie Railroad in 1924. Several also were visited who purchased bulls us a result of the train. 1 Names of farmers visited and the breed of sires they purchased, are as follows: Ed. S. Christen, Holstein; Andrew Fuelling, Ayrshire; Martin Schroeder, Guernsey, mold); C. W. R. Schwartz, Holstein; Dan D. Schwartz (keeper of-company bull) Holstein; Leon Neuensch wander., Holstein; Fred Mathys, Holstein (drawn Dairy Day; John D. Mason, Holstein; Peter D Schwartz, Holstein; A. Z. Smith, Holstein. ■ These sires are well-bred animals, their ancestry containing good records for production of milk and butterfat. One of the sires now has approximately 50 daughters in the county, most of which will undoubtedly be superior to their mothers in milk production. "The influence of these sires in improving the producting ability of the dairy cattle of the county is beyond our power to estimate", stated Mr. Newman, after the tour was completed. it will be remembered that the “Bull Special" was made possible by the cooperation of Decatur's business men and the Cloverleaf Creameries with the Erie Railroad. Ray Hamilton, was awarded a guernsey sire by the business men while Peter D. Schwartz drew the Holstein given by the Cloverleaf Creameries. o — Coaches For Fort Wayne Schools Named Fort Wayne, April 14 — Athletic coaches at three Fort Wayne high schools were appointed last night by •he Fort Wayne Public school board. Mr. W. H Stearn lives at 1211 No. Oakland Avenue, Indianapolis. At 67 years he works steadily as a journeyman carpenter, meeting the competition of men half his age, and holding his own with the best. But for six vears he had a different story to tell. Here it is, in his own words: “1 wm so rundown from indigestion that mv svstern was completely shattered. When a big contract obliged me to speed up and work overtime, mv day’s work almost killed me. Sometimes I was actually too weak to raise my hammer or pull my saw. Mv head and back ached terribly, and when I tried to bend over my head whirled and I was too weak to stand on my feet. Constipation and sluggish liver bothered me And mv hand trembled from nervousness. At night I tossed and rolled in bed Though mv work demands plenty of food, my appetite was shot to pieces and I hardly ate enough to keep bodv and soul together. "Tanlae helped me so that I now eat and sleep normally again. I'm as energetic as a man of 35 or 40 and don’t have to ask odds of younger men. My appetite is like the keen edge of a freshly honed razor and I digest my food like a boy back from
