YELLOW JACKETS! If Coach Curtis’ boy» play basketball like they know how to play, they will put Decatur on the map down at the trestate tourney in Cincinnati this week-end. Don't let anyone tel! you, gang, that Logansport is unbeatable Anything i liable to happen in a basketball tournament, and you are good enough to upset the dope when an opportunity presents itself. But forget about Logansport until you hive played and won three games. Cloverdale high school, opponent of the Yellow Jagkets in their first game at the tourney, is of more or lees unknown quantity, or rather quality. However, w: believe Decatur can win this game and advance to the second round, where either Osgood, Indiana, ofthe Immaculate high school of Newport, Kentucky, will be met. We know very little about Osgood and les£ about the Newport school, but th c Yellow Jackets certainly have a chance to win this game and go into the semifinals. Providing they...win the;.-.... first two gamis, the Yellow Jackets undoubtedly will meet Waldron, Indiana, in the semi-finals. Waldron has been going like a hous e afire this year and has lost only one or two games. The Indiana school has played several strong teams, also. If Decatur and Waldron meet in the semi-finals, a great game should result. In the lower half of the bracket, Logansport. Ossian, Center Giove and Winchester. all Indiana schools, and Covington, Kentucky, appear to be the class of the group. It looks like Winchester or Center Grove, Covinglon, Logansport-and Ossian will stirvive the preliminary and first round games, ami it will be up to Ossian to stop march of the Logansport Loganberries in the second round. Our guess is Logansport ami Covington. Kentucky, will meet in 'the second semifinal game, with Logan t.le winner. The Decatur high school authorities are to be commended for their action in adopting a system of awarding honor sweaters to-athletes. The local school has been behind the procression in this respect for some time. Central Catholic high, of Fort Wayne, received a set back last night at Huntington, when St. Marys high licked the Fort Wayne team, 31-29. C. C. H. S. fans have been broadcasting the information that there team is going to trip the Commodores when they visit Fort Wayne February 25. A story in the Indianapolis Star, concerning the tri-state toiwney, stated that Summittville, the winner of the tourney last vear, and Logansport, runner-up, would take part -in f !!0 tourney this year.
