i i , FIELD t GOALS /*» JA 1 a >4Zy aAA 1 * • x - Arr -1 -J» 1 By Mark M. Upp i 1 This week’s schedule for Adams county teams includes: Friday night —Anderson Catholic vs. Decatur ■ Catholic, here; Decatur at Huntington. Lancaster -at Kirkland, Monroe at Geneva, Berne at Ossian, and Hartford* at Polingtown; Saturday night—Harlan at Monmouth, Decatur at Garrett, Liberty Center at Berne. The crew gave Ossian a nice battle ‘ Saturday night and with an even bregk on several of their shots in thO' closing minutes might have sent the Wells county boys home with the short end of the score. This boy Meyers on the Kirkland team appears to have coppied a little of the stuff' , strutted often by Meyers of the Catholic high Commodores. Against Geneva, Saturday night, the Kirkland Meyers scored 11 field goals. Needless to say, Meyers’ goal shooting spelled defeat for Geneva. ■ The Bllnffton I*igers played nice basketball in the secoid half of their game with the Huntington Vikings, at Bluffton, Saturday night, and came from behind to win in the closing ■ minutes, 37-28. One of the regret-1 ' able features of the game was when j , Petrie, the (pmunttive hut star floor , guard of the Huntington team lost > control of his temper in the last tjvo minutes, after he had played a beautiful game, and was sent to the showers by referee Kline.' Petrie object- J ed to a foul being called on a team-_ I

mate nnd he grabbed the ball and I threw it with all his might directly at the referee'B face and the bull hit the official with great, force'. Huntington was already beaten, as Bluffton held a six or seven point lead. As soon us Petrin learns to control bls temper at nil times. Just that much sooner will ho become a greater player and be a greater aid to his team. Now You Quit Netta Goal, an intimate friend of Rip, Offs, who dishes out the basketIkill rosrfip in tlfq Bluffton News, pulled the following one Saturday: "Over at Decatur you see some like () and some like )(, but they wear ■..holt skirts nevertheless.’’ The Yellow Jackets have a big task ahead of them next Friday and Saturday. The Huntington ( Vikings are coming into their | own and a victory over them on their home fltrer Friday night isn’t going to be handed to the Yellow Jackets all wrapped up in brown paper. Garrett may not be as tough, but that game, coming on the heels of the Huntington fracas, will not be a set-up by any means. >— Tho Commodores will windup their home season next Friday night, when they meet the Anderson Catholics in a return game. It will probably be the last game for Mongo Meyers, Art Womhoff and some of the other boys on the local floor as a Commodore. Tho gym should bo packed in order to show these boys that their work has been appreciated. Central of Fort Wayne appears to be started, unless Auburn and Kendallville have blown up. * I I I • Greencastle is still holding the Victory Brick, but only after two strenuous battles over the week-end, one of them going overtime.
