Ferdinand Nichols was celebrated with the grandest health. Joy and happiness, at their home on Tenth street, Tuesday. December 14. Thirty-seven guests enjoyed a twocourse dinner at noo’n,'while a hundred or more called Ruling the day and evening. Telegrams and telephone calls were received by this good old couple. Covers at noon were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Nichols, Mrs. Clark Spahr and daughter, Phillis Gene, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Nichols and daughter, Catherine, of this city, Mr. D. I. Hower, of Muskegon, Michigan; Mrs. Hattie Cramer, of Fort Wayne; Mrs. Clara Linn, of Fort 'Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Dan W. Beery, Mr. and Mrs. Janies Harkless, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hollman, Mr and Mrs. Herman Myers, Mr. Dallas Hower and sons, Donald and Alton, Mr. James Berry, Mrs. Verena Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beery, all bf this city: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meyer and •laughter, Virginia, of Van Wert, O. Open house was held during the evening, and neighbors and friends calle<*- Mr. Albert Mutschler, of the Mutschler Packing company, and several employees called and presented Mr. and Mrs. Nichols with a gift of sold, Mr. Nichols being the oldest person employed by the company. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols received many beautiful gifts. Their many friends wish them many more days of happiness. , — The meting of the Young Woman's Misionary Circle of the Evangelical church has been postponed from Friday nighs of this week until Tuesday bight, next week. The /meeting will he held with Mrs. Frances Graber, on Walnut street. The annual Christmas exchange of the Gecode Club was held in the ■bent of the Zion Reformed church last bight. A three-course chicken dinner wa s served at nine small tables. A small trimmed Christmas tree formed the centerpiece of each table. Nut cups and place cards wfere used in the

The meeting was held at the. home l of the Rev. E. M. Foster. Ar(w thplj budineu session, a program was given, followed by the serving of a luncheon by Mrs. Foster. The Historical Club met with Mrs.' Kannie Frlstoe, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Wertzberger read a paper on "Makers of American Humor.” Dur-' mg the business meeting, the dub' made an allowance of $5 tor a health bond. Arrangements were made for the annual Christmas party, which will be held Tuesday evening, at 6:30 o’clock, with Mrs. Ed Ahr. A dinner will be served, after which an ex-' change of gifts will be held. The husbands of the members will be guests. Mrs. Fristoe invited the guests to the dining room where she served a delicious chicken dinner. The table was laid with white linen and centered with a miniature Christ-1 mas tree. Tall red and green Cathed-1 ral candles were also a part of the I table decorations. The Christian Ladies’ Aid society will serve a thirty-five cents plate supper Saturday evening from five to seven o’clock. The following menu 1 will be served: roast beef, brown poatoes, gravy, cold slaw, stewed corn, bread, butter, coffee, and pie. The public is invited to attend. Mrs. Harve Baker was hostess to fourteen members of her Sunday school class Wednesday afternoon. Games were played and an exchange t of Christmas gifts held. Refresh- 1 merits were server!. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hall, of north of the city, entertained at dinner last evening. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, Mr. and Mrs. John 1 Everett and Mr. and Mrs. Cal E. Peterson. The Tuesday Afternoon Club held its rgeular meeting ut the home of Mrs. Francis Eady, Tuesday. The election of offi&rs was held and Mrs. Eady was made president; Mrs. Brice [Butler, vice president; Mrs. Harry Staley, secretary and treasurer. Following the business meeting, tables were arranged for bunco and prizes i were awarded to Mrs. Felix Graber and Mrs. Dick McConnell. Delicious refreshments were served at the conclusion of th games. The next meeting wil ibe held in two weeks with Mrs. Russell Melchi.
