Testifying at Chicago, Mr. sValb stated that his campaign fund was 340,000. Then, John Moorman of Knox, treasurer of the WatsonRobinson state committee, was put on the stand here. Mr. Moorman testified tha|t organization had received up to October 4 the sum ot $69,490.62, nearly double what Mr. 55 alb had told Senator James A. Reed that his organization had received. Mr. Moorman testified further that the 55 r atson-Robinson headquarters had spent $68,806.83 up to October 4. According to Mr. Moorman’s testimony, thousands of dollars were contributed to the failing Watson-Robinson cause in large amounts by wealthy citizens. Mr. Walb’s light way of dealing with figures was also further shown very dramatically in another instance. At Chicago, Mr. Walb had stated that international Hankers had raised a fund ot $8,000,000 to in- , fluence the election in Indiana. He . had said in a letter to Senator Wil- , Ham E. Borah that this money was in the hands of "fakirs” in every precinct in the state, according to “evidence everywhere.” At Indianapolis 11 it was brought out by the testimony | before the Reed committee that the , organization suspected by Mr. Walb had the magnificent total of S4OO in its treasury. Mrs. W. S. Ixx-khart, ' the elderly widow of a clergyman, gave testimony as to the actual facts of the organization’s treasury, much to the discomfiture of Mr. Walb, who was left by the Reed investigation thor- ! oughly discredited as a man making
