Mallon U. P. Staff Correspondent Washington. Oct. 8. — Political excitement stirred up by the democratic plan to reduce taxes again this winter increased today. As Senator Robinson, democratic floor leader opened a series of conferences with his lieutenants to develop the democratic thrust, republicans ■' sch, mSenator Borah, republican, Idaho, who lias taken a leading part in recent tax fights —pot always on the side of the administration—ridiculed the democratic plan as a political campaign movement impossible of fulfill ment. | * * There will be'no effort at tax reduction at the coming session of congress, Borah predicted, despite Robinson’s simultaneous statement that the democrats intended to put the matter to a vote with prospects of success. Borah declared the short session is too brief to permit intelligent study of a complicated tax problem and that if the matter is to be discussed, there woulti have Jo be an extra ><ssion next March. But Robinson is optimistic. "If we have a surplus like the republicans claims, there is no occas on for waiting tor a tax reduction n' lll 1928," he said. “The people are e»titlled to a reduction and we will try to give it to them.” Robinson expects to add some fcestions to the reduction resolution now being drirtvn by Senator >"11 mens, ranking democratic member 0 the finance committee.
