J., July 2.—(United Press.)—Willis Harper, chunky 11-year-old. from Bevier, Ky., today became the national champion by defeating the solemn Dan Gore of Springfield. Mass., in five out of six games. Willis, a smiling youngster in a fresh, well starched blouse, gray knickers and popper and salt stockings, took the victory as a matter of course. He was much less nervous than his scowling opponent and performed more sensationally than at any time during the five-day tournament. The scores were 13-0 13 0; 9-4; 130; b-13; 10-3. The names of Lenhart and DeVoss were stricken off the list by the two parties, leaving the name of Litterer, who will se-ve aspecial judge. The date for the hearing has not been set.
