For the ceremony the bHde wore a becoming frock of rose-orchid flat crepe trimmed with cream vul lace, patent leather footwear with tun hose and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses. Immediately following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to the members of the immediate families and a few friends. Macy arrived Sunday after a two weeks trip through the west and south and accompanied his wife and daughter to their home in Galion, Ohio. I Carl Pumphrey and W, A. Lower i motored to Indianapolis Sunday to attend to business. | Funeral services were held here Saturday for Mrs. C. A. Battenberg, attended by the husband and nine children and a number of friends. CALVARY CHURCH TO BE IMPROVED Forty Members to Remodel Church and Make It More Modern Are the people of Adams county the same Gid fearing, religious, high grade sort of folks as were ot’r an centers? The little church house has been moved about seventy five feet toward the road mJ ra'sed to allow a spacious baaem''nt. inc.tiding a mode, n social serving room and fuel bin; a new furnace of the latest type is being installed and the interior of the church redecorated with paper, varnish and paint. Features are a balcony and several class rooms giving the church a modern appearance. At present the ' church is being painted and the steps and walks constructed. Workmen hope to have it completed and ready for rededication which will take place the last Sunday in May or the first Sunday in June. Calvary belongs to the Decatur Evangelical circuit of which Rev. R. W. Loose is pastor. A remarkable thing about it is that the work has been done mostly by the few men who are members of the congregation. It is estimated th/ improvement would have cost from $3,500 to $4,000 by contract. (j HOSPITAL NOTES Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Enos, of 710 Nuttman avenue, are the proud parents of a girl baby, Joyce Ann. born last evening. This is the first child. Robert White, of route two, was admitted to the local hospital Saturday for medical treatment. Mrs. Carl Schafer is slowly recovering from a major operation which she underwent last Friday at the local hospital. It is though! that Riley had been firing the steel balls with a sling-shot, and, probably did not notice Mr. Steele when the last one was fired. Riley was released after questioning, and it is not likely that any charges will bo preferred against him. He wus warned howeve" to abandon any guns or sling-shots that he might have. When (Questioned this morning. Riley still maintained that h,. did not fire the shot, but those who were near the scene at tho time the glass was broken are of the opinion that the bullet came from the room occupied by Riley. Woman Seriously Injured In Automobile Accident Vincennes, Ind., May 10. —(United Press.)—The jugular vein of Mrs. A. W. Pringle was severed when she was thrown through tho windshiled of her husband’s auto as it crashed into a fence post near here yesterday. The flow of blood was finally checked but the woman was in a serious condition today from shock and loss of blood. Pringle and his wife were returning from placing flowers on the 1 graves of Mrs. Pringle's parents when the accident occurred. WOMAN ESCAPES ) . ( The woman, was originally sentenced from Erie county, escaped once ' but was finally confined in jail here October 6, 1925. Police and prison 1 officials regard "Cat Eye Annie." who ’ is also known as Julia Archer, as one of the most dangerous woman criminals in the country. 1 "Cat Eye” has a system <>f her own. She posed as a maid in the home of ’ the wealthy, learned the plans of homes and the habits of those for whom she worked. LUTHERANSPLAN HOSPITAL DRIVE Plans Started Sunday For Campaign to Secure Extension Money On Sunday morning Muy 9, the Rev. Ph. Wambsgunss preached a sermon of the Luthern hospital to the members of Zion Lutheran congregation at Friedhelts, the Rev. C. B. Preuss pastor. He described the work of the Lutheran hospital and urged tho members to support the present appeal. He addressed the congregation In the German language. Mr. Herman Koeneman, keyman. will direct the work in this parish. Steady progress Is being made in the present campaign for $300,000 for the extension of tho Lutheran hospital of Fort Wayne to relieve the seriously overcrowded condition existing in that institution at the present time, according to the Rev. Fred WambsgansH director of the effort to raise the above amount by May 30. May 23 to 30 is the time set aside for the general every-member canvass which will be conducted in more than 30 Lutheran Parishes in and about Fort Wayne. Tho educational campaign includes a specially prepared booklet setting forth the humanitarian services rendered by the Lutheran hospital, and also a pamphlet of an inspirational nature. Addresses are also being made by tha superintendent of the training school, Miss A. Holtman. In many of tho parishes. • Interest in the proposed addition of the Lutheran hospital has been |St»>adily increasing as the time of tho , financial campaign is drawing near, not only among the Lutheran people, but also among tho citizens of Fort Wayne generally.
