The Ladies' Shakespeare Club met with Mrs. H. F. Ehinger Wednesday igernoon. Mrs. C. D. Teeple read a very fine paper on "Venice, The Island City.” The club will meet next week with Mrs. J. M. Westveld and Mrs. D. M. Hensley will have the program, her paper being on “Rings and Precious Jewels.” Mrs. Will Bowers will entertain the numbers of her Bridge Club tonight ! at eight o'clock at her home on Monroe street. * Mrs. J. M. Miller was hostess to the members of the Historical (Tub at her home on Second street, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. E. S. Christen read a splendid paper on “The RJicieat Woman." During the social hour which followed, the itwstess served light refreshments. All Epworth League members of the Methodist church arc invited to the >V'll wship hour and short business ion Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. Lunch will be served at 5:15 o'-.lock, following the regular League devotional meeting. They also announce a cafeteria supper to be served in the church dining room Saturday evening, March 27, from five to ueven o'clock. The liberal patronage of the public is solicited. Members of the Dancing Club enjoyed i St. Patrick’s Day dance at the Elks' Home last night. About twentyfive eoiioles were present. During the evening, St. Patrick'iv Day favors were givi n out and the dancers were foreeti to kiss the Blarney Stone. An elimination dance was he'd and prizes awarded to the winners. Punch was served by the committee :n charge. Excellent music for dancing was furnished by a local orchestra composed of Bob White, Dpn Farr, Roy Miller ami E V. Shielding. The cards state that he H a resident of Decatur, but should re id that he is a’ resident of Berne. Mr. Heller formerly lived in Decatur and then moved to Monroe, where he lived until some time ago, when he moved to Berne. The cards will be corrected at once. C. D. Teeple is in Chicago on business, in the interest ,of the Teeple and Peterson Store. Mr. Teeple will also attend the National Catholic Basketball tournament, which is being held at Lcyala University, there. I —" Dad” Grange today is living in the house that football built. After living in small quarters for several years while sending his son Harold “Red” Grange through the University of Illinois, the elder Grange is now realizing on the investment. He has moved into a new bungalow on the outskirts of the city. The bungalow was given to him by the red head and was made possible from rough money Red Gained last fall while playing professional football. .
Child Killed When Thrown From Running Board Os Automobile Indianapolis, lnd„ Mar. 18.—(United Press) —A three-year-old boy is dead here today and Dr. C. W. Rubuwch has been slated by police on a technical charge of manslaughter. William Kleine, Jr., :j, was playing on the running board .of tire physician's machine when Rubusch started on a call, • The child was thrown bene'.i.lh the wheels of the machine and his neck was broken, when the physician «vlart,ed the machine, unaware ot the child's presence. Rubusch was not informed of the accident until some time later. • • v o “Jordan River Revue” Pamphlets Suppressed Indianapolis, Ind., Mar. 18. —(United Press) —Members of the Indiana University Club, ot Indianapolis, tod«y were suppressing a pamphlet circulated here to advertise the "Jordan River Revue,” Indiana University musical comedy. Complaint was made to Dr. William Lowe Bryan, president of the university, on the nature of one of the Ulustraticns in the pamphlet and Dr. Bryan asked its suppression.
