September was up 1 while May mew wag 1 1-4 higher. The sentiment 7 in the pit at the opening was that the i.'lottjom of the recent bearish season has been reached aud that until pressure is brought to bear on longs, the bulls will have the upper baud in this g ain. The bulls also were cheered in the belief that Liverpool had come over to their side. Corn opened fractionally higher. 1 While advances in this. 4-8. were not rs marked as iu wheat the undertone f in this pit shows strength enough to i. iepulse the bears for some Hine. | Oita opened eight higher in the May delivery but was unchanged in the July and September deliveries. The . wheat crop last season was well below the usual average and the price has s encouraged farmers ta sell. Ui.st ■ year’s rye crop also was the smallest [for some years. In the case of the ifeed grains, the fairly heavy stocks 'now on hand are due partly to the increased production last year and partly to the smaller number of hogs, cat- ’) tie aud horses on the farms. | Stocks of wheat on farms totalled nearly one hundred million bushels, or thirteen million bushels less than they were on the first of March of Last year. This reduction iu the quantity I held on farms is, however, nearly offt set by th efact that the quantity held ' by country mills and elevators wa.; nine million bushels greater than i: w was last year. The quantity of corn ' <•□ [aims on March first is estimated ’ to have been oue aud on-third billion , l>u>bels. This represents a considerable increase over the three-fourth billion held last year from the short crop of 1924. but is only fifteen per cent above the quantity 011 hand two , years ago. Stocks of corn are par- { ticularly heavy in the central Corn , Belt from lowa east to Ohio. In the j cotton states there is much less than ; the usual quantity of corn on hand. , Stocks of oat.s held by farmers are . about five per cent heavier titan they , were a year ago, notwithstanding the slightly smaller crop. Holdings of oata are particularly heavy in Ohio, , Michigan, Wisconsin. Minnesota and . lowa J FORT WAYNE HOG MARKET i (Donlin Commission Co.)
