Four Great Players End College Career As Franklin Beats Wabash Crawfordsville, Ind., Mar. 4. —(United P ress)—Four of the greatest basketball players that Indiana has ever produced today were, resting from their final effort in amateur circles, after Franklin's 34-21 defeat of Wabash here last night. Red Robinson, captain of the Wabash crew, went down to defeat in his last college game and Fuzzy Vandiver. Johnny Gant and Wendell Ballard, of Franklin, members of the team which for five years reigned supreme , in high school and college circles, flashed in their teams impressive victory. o Pleasant Dale Claims Win Over Reformed Team Members of the Pleasant Dale church basketball team, which played the Zion Reformed church team in this city at the D. H. S. gym Tuesday night, claimed today ■that they won the game. It seems that the Decatur score-keeper had the score 25-24 in favor of the Zion Reformed team, while the score-keeper for the Pleasant Dale team bad it 24-23 in favor of Pleasant Dale. In checking over the scores after the game, it was found that the Decatur score-keeper had two mc<je free throws credited to the Reformed team than the other one had. The Pleasant Dale score-keeper, it is said, admitted that he was not sure that he had not failed to put down all free throws made by the Reformed team. No one was keeping score on the score board in the gym. Minnesota Beats Chicago Chicago, Mar. I. —(United Press) — Chicago, Mar. 4.—(United Press) — The University of Chicago basketball team closed its season last night bysuffering a 28 to 23 defeat at the hands of the lowly Minnesota Gophers. It was the second beating the Gophers gave Chicago and they have two more games* cn their schedule, which may enable them to climb a couple of notches in the Big Ten. Chicago assumed the load at the start, but developed a slump near the middle of the first half and before the period was ended, Minnesota was leading, 17 to 13. In the second half, Minnesota ran the score up to 25 to 13 before Chicago got started again. Raxy led the Gopher attack with six baskets and three free throws. Nine more holes found them still tied up but three holes later Geue missed a short putt which cost him the title. Mehlhorn had 395 for the 120 holes, while Zarazen had 396. o Scottsburg — Getting stuck in the mud was costly for Roscoe Nally, of Louisville. He was fined for operating a heavy vehicle over soft roads.
