Gibault gave the Decatur quintet a hard tight here recently, the locals winning by a score of 32-29. Gibault has defeated Reitz high of Evansville since then. In speaking of the impending clash between Gibault ail'd D. C. H. S., the Vincennes Sun says: "The Gibault high basketeers have two tough games on their hands this week. On Thursday evening the Patriots will meet the highly touted Catholic high team of Decatur, Ind., as a return game. "The up-staters have a strong reputation this season, titled as the Catholic champs of Indiana, and also run-ners-up in the national Catholic tournament held at Chicago early last spring. The Decatur quintet won a hot contest from the locals early in the season by a 32-29 score, and sincei that time have been on the mmpage. “This is one of the most important games of the net season. If the Patriots win. it will pave the way into entering the national tournament at Chicago.” The players who will make the trip to Vincennes and Evansville are: Captain Gass. d~~ ~ - ;-r— '1 FIELD GOALS • BY MARK M. UPP sJ Next Saturday will be an important day to all high school basketball players and fans. On that day, Mr. Trester and the other officials of the I.H.S.A.A. will meet at Indianapolis and r.rrange the schedules for the sectional and regional basketball tourneys. The schedules will be announced In the afternoon papers Saturday and by 5 o'clock Saturday evening the tourneys will be all doped out in every section of the state. South Side surprised a bunch of I'iHvplH last night by defeating Coach Murray Mendenhall’s Central Tigers iu the first of the annual Fort Wayne sei les. It took the Green un overtime period to turn the trick. Personally, we haven't been able to see much difference in the strength of the two quintets all season. The Catholic High eagers are due to board the interurban at 4 o'clock this evening, headed for the southern part of the state. The question is. will the locals receive the same treatment in the south that most other northern Indiana teams are forced to accept down there? We think not. We are predicting two victories for Coach Center's men. The Yellow Jackets ? are hard at. ’■ work in preparation for the game | with Winchester here Friday night. , They appear to be undaunted by the eleven defeats suffered this season. Strickler and Bebotit are working at • center, Welker, Reyno'lds, Zwick and Krick at forward, and Captain i Moser, Dierkes and Magley at guard. Krick is taking a turn at guard this ' week, also, and the freshman is showing promise in that position. ! Mr. Burk . replied to Congressman Vestal that he ■ didn’t think the building of that type would coincide with the nearby structures, since it would form the center of several public buildings, with a large » court house on one side, the Library in front and a three-story business building back of it. Mr. Burk stated
that he thought that the people of Decatur desired a larger building than the one at Bluffton.
