The election of Mr Rice followed the retiring of Mr. Wemhoff. Mr. Rice has shown a great interest in radios and he immediately started plans for a large club in Decathr. He pointed out the fact that it was the du;ty of every radio owner to belong to the club in order that the very! best reception possible could be had in this city. » o The Ge Code Club girls of the local General Electric plant held their annual Christmas party and exchange in the club rooms last evening. The Blue Prints ure bent on leuviug their imprint on Catholic High's record. Our friend Will Wynn at Berne continues to broadcast warning signals. Here's a couple of samples: "A large delegation from Berne plans to accompany the Fighting Five' So Decatur, plan to meet thy foe." "And say you were very right about that ‘will be out to keep its slate clean.’ See you Friday." "Bearcats Gnaw Tinplate" reads a headline in the Basket Ball World. Yes, it was an account of the Muncie-Elwood Basketball game. Along comes our old friend Out of Bounds, of Bluffton, and takes a hefty swing at us. He's responsible for the following: “Didja ever hear of Yellow Jackets doing much stinging in the winter time? Must be a little like Red Grange's Chicago Bears—they go good when the weather's warm but just can’t do nothin' when Old Man Winter arrives. Just naturally like to go back in their dens and wait till spring. Look out for poetry then, fans!” Rip Offs laid off of us yesterday so we will be nice to him today. We had the wrong dope on the game between the Muncie Midgets and the Fort Wayne Blue Prints at Muncie Tuesday night. Instead of the Blue Printj winning, they took the short end of a 47-21 score, which is far from a victory. However, the Midgets are the junior champions of Indiana and the showing of the Blue Prints is not so bad as it might have been. I We predict that Catholic high will be forced to play some real basket- i ball tonight to down the Blue Prints. It ought to be a good game. The Berne Fighting Five will play the South Side second team on the Berne floor Saturday night. , |l Judging from the way everybody is talking up this Berpe-Decatur game ' Friday night, the fellow witli a reserved seat will be lucky. Berne is going | lo close up shop and move up here for the evening. j 1 We are informed that Coach Welbourn, of South Side, will referee the , Berne-Decatur game Friday night. He is a good official and the fans from J both schools are assured of a square deal. II The Yellow Jacket Reserves are without a game for this week-end. This J is regretable. The future of any team depends greatly on its future ma- < terial and that material must have experience and training before it is i meded on the varsity. . Whatever the outcome of the game here Friday night, we hope everybody goes to bed that night with no malice on his heart. Excitement more than likely will prevail at the game and everybody I must be prepared to keep control of himself. Coach Welbourn will < give each team a square deal and if the best team doesn't win it will J be the team’s own fault- Let’s show Berne a good time, folks. Don't forget to suggest a name for the Catholic high quintet tonight. li Today’s question and answer: "Q—May a team play with less than five players? A—A team must begin the game with fife players, but if it has no substitutes to replace players who are required to leave the game, it j may continue the game with less than five players. J
