Dec. 9. — (United Press) —“Notre Dame has grown tired of having its race and religion insulted by Nebraska fofttball crowds.” This, in substance, Was tho reason given Coach Ernest eßarg, of Nebraska, for cancellation of the annual Notre Dame-Nebraska game by the Notre Dame faculty, Bearg declared on his return here from South Bend today. Bearg said he was given to understand by Rev. l ather George Finnigan that the Notre Dame-Cornhusker game was becoming more of a religious war than a sporting contest and that the Catholic school considered it best for all concerned to sever athletic relations. The Notre Dame faculty was said to have objected to sgus displayed iu business houses in Loncbln Which declared “those roughneck Irishmen shall not pass," and to the attitude of the crowd at the stadium while the game "as being played. Coach Rockne took no part iu the discussion at South Bend and was entirely neutral, Bearge said.
