MONROE BEATS BRIGHTON. 12-2 Adams County Quintet Breaks Into Win Column On Foreign Floor The Monroe high school baskethall team broke into the win column Saturday night, after dropping its first three contests, and defeated the Brighton high school five, on the latter’s floor, by a score of 12 to 2. Brighton failed to score from the field, the two points being scored by the losers on free throws. The first half ended with Monroe leading. 41. Hauhert. floor- guard, and <l. Smith, forward, led in the Monroe attack The Monroe lineup consisted of: (I. Smith and Kessler, forwards; A. Smith, center: Strahrn and Hahnert, guards. No substitutions were made. Coach Montgomery was unable to accompany the team and Eberhard was in charge. Brighton will play a return game with Monroe in this city on January 22. Monroe will play Poling high school, from Jay county, in the old gymnasium here Friday night of this week.

One Member Os Grand Jury Is Excused Today The Adams county grand jury met this morning for its annual session. Herman Conrad, o’ Preble township, was excused from service on the jury on account of illness. Judge Sutton excused three other members of the Jury for the remainder of the day.
