’T’HERE are 51 onaroom public schools and 9 public high schools in the county, employing 170 teachers. These schools are maintained through taxation and during the last school year the people of Adams county expended more than $311,000 for school purposes. They believe in the advantages of education and demand that their children receive the best.

« KNOW YOUR SCHOOL DAY Friday, November 20—“ Progressive civilizaion depends upon progressive education”. 1. Schools must progress with the times 2. Preparation for modern day life demands a broader course of study. 3. The school must be kept abreast of science and invention. I. IN addition to the public schools, there are • 8 parochial grade schools and 1 parochial high school in the county, employing about 20 teachers and expending many thousands of dollars a year for buildings and maintainance of their schools. Adams county has more than 4,000 pupils in its schools. In the public schools 3.852 are enrolled, while 777 are enrolled in the parochial schools. The schools are in .charge of efficient teachers, who are sincere in carrving out their work that of helping to educate the children.
