I UMMiUCO ' GO IS HEADLINER “Red” Grange’s Fame Attracts Great Interest; . Other Big Ten Games Chicago. Nov. 6. (United Press) — • Although it will have little If any hearing on the Big Ten championship, the Illinois-Chicago game al Urbana to-' morrow will draw the biggest crowd and the most interest ot any gridiron contest in the middlewest. Red Grange, who hit his stride in I the Penn game last week, is largely f responsible for the widespread inter- ' est in the game at Urbana. Fans realize that this is Red’s last year of collegiate competition and the season is rapidly drawing toward its close. As many as can get into the huge stadium will be there. Extra bleachers seating 2.000 spectators have been erected bringing the , total attendance tomorrow to 69.00(1. Nineteen special trains will be run from Chicago. i Illinois has been beaten by lowa ami Michigan and Chicago was tied by Ohio State which means that unless Michigan and lowa ara unexpectedly* defeated before the end of the sea-1 son. tomorrow’s game at Urbana will, not affect first place in the conference standing. There are three other games tomor-j row between Big Ten rivals, two ot which will ertme close to the IllinoisChicago game in general interest. Coach Burt Ingwerson’s Hawkeyes, , with victories over Illinois and Ohio State to their credit, meet Wisconsin at lowa City. The Badgers have been one of the outstanding disappointments of the season and unless they show great improvement tomorrow. , lowa’s slate will remain clean. Michigan's powerful team swings into action against Northwestern's Wildcats. Ohio State and Indiana meet at Columbus. Bothe teams have been defeated but Ohio has a big chance on the Hoosiers. The other Big Ten teams meet nonconference opponents. Minnesota taking on Butler at Minneapolis, and Purdue clashing with Franklin a4 ette. o Yellow Jackets To Play At Van Wert Saturday The Decatur high school football team will go to Van Wert. Ohio, Saturday to play the Scarlet and Gray team of Van Wert’ high school, old rivals of the Yellow Jackets. In the last game between the two teams, played at Van Wert two years ago. the score was 0-0. Both teams will enter the contest Saturday, fresh from victories on the preceding Saturday. the Yellow Jackets having defeated parrett, 6-0, atyi Van Wert having ddwned St. Marys, Ohio, by the same score. Several fans will accompany the team to Van Wert. o Child. 5, Shot By Her Brother, 7, Is Likely To Die Detroit, Mich., Nov. 6. — (United Press) —Slight hope was held by physicians today for recovery of five-year old Mary Safoni, shot yesterday by her seven-year-old brother Peter “because she called me a monkey.” The child is in a hospital suffering from a severe bullet wound in the I head, received, the brother told police. | 1 when lie procured his father’s revolver and shot her following a quarrel, j ’ The qcprrel resulted from efforts by the boy to take a doll away from his sister, he said. In retaliation the girl hit him with a stick and called ' him a "monkey,” according to his story to police. Physicians at Receiving hospital this , ' noon reported the wounded child's ' condition was grave with slight hope ! |for recovery. 1 DEMONSTRATION IN TYPEWRITING , (Continued from page one) tion. HOOSIERS INVADE FOREIGN FIELDS Most Os Indiana College Football Teams Play Away From Home Saturday Indianapolis, Nov. 6.—lndiana football fans will have to be content, for the most part, for listening in on radio report* of football games this week. The majority of the Hoosier schools will be defending the gridiron teachings of Indiana on foreign fields tomorrow with very few games of mi- ! portsnee carded for the state fields. I I Indications are that Notre Dame’s (little unpleasantness with Penn State, on the eastern field will receive the greatest part of the Hoosier attention. The Rockne coached outfit apparently has found itself after the stinging defeat handed it by the West Point wariors and will be out to win its second start in the East. Indiana will receive more than usual attention when it invades the Buckeye State to do battle with Doe Wil< e's wariors at Columbus. Ijist season. Navy Bill Ingram and i his crew slipped one over on the critics by handing a good defeat to the powerful Ohio State combination. Indiana supporters are not talking much hi|t it is a well known fact that Navy Bill has pointed his crew in an effort to again upset the dope. Butler will leave the confines of Hoosferdom and invade the Gopher | state for a battle with the powerful ( Big Ten contenders. Bntler fans are not optimistic enough to predict victory hut the fans believe the crew will be able to make a better showing than that of Wabash against the same crew. Wabash is carded for what appears to be an easy contest, the Little Giants meeting the Chicago Y. M. C. A. College at Crawfordsville. Coach Vaughn has been pointing his team for the Illinois game next week, believing an easy victory is in prospect and it is altogether possible that the Y. M. C. A. I»oys will pull a surprise. DePauw will rest this week, while Earlham after a week's lay-off tackles Oakland City college. The Quakers this season have an especially good teain and the fans are confident of another victory. Coach Duggan will take his Baptist warriors against their second Big Ten foe when the Franklin crew invades Ijafayette to do battle with Coach Phelan's Boiler Maker eleven. The Baptists have been pointed for this game in an effort to making a showing in the race for the state grid title and should give Purdue a run for its money. State Normal, with one of the strongest teams in the history of the school will go to Muncie to play the Muncie branch of State Normal. It will be a home-coming event for I the Muncie crew, which has yet to win its first game of the season. Hanover and Indiana Central will clash at Indianapolis in a game that should see the evenly matched teams in action. t o Peru Citizens To Give Banquet For Vic Aldridge 1 I Peru, Ind., Nov. 6—The people of Peru will honor Vic Aldridge, star twirler for the Pittsubrgh Pirates in the last world's series, at a banquet to be given next week. Aldridge was formerly a pitcher for the Peru Grays, a semi-pro ball chib playing out of this city. The reception will be a benefit affair and the proceeds will go to the Peru high school athletic fund. D 0 Richmond To Hold Coon Dog Field Day Nov. 8 Richmond, Ind., Nov. 6. —Hundreds of .prize coon dogs are expected to be . entered in the "Coon Dog Field Day” ; meet to be conducted near here No- ; vember 8. r In case of inclement weather the meet will be postponed oue week.
