The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Gertrude Conrad, and the groom was at tended by his brother, Otto Etzler. of i ( mivoy, Ohio, The home was decorn’ed with autumn leaves and peach slid white crepe paper. The bride wore a becoming frock of blonde satin crepe fashioned t'lowg straight lines, with footwear to tnatdh. She carried a shower boquet of brides roses and swansonia. Her attendant wore coca brown chiffon georgette and velvet and black footwear. She caried an arm boquet of Sweetheart orses. The crowd in Decatur Saturday light was one of the largest ever seen here and every one had a good hne. Finley Nash of Garrett accompanied the football team from that place, here Saturday afternoon, his son being one of the team stars. Some twenty years ago Mi - . Nash was a member of the Decatur ball team, in the days when we boasted a real club and be was some ball player too. A tag day for the Volunteers of Auftrica will be conducted next Saturday. R O. Holthouse has accepted a position as assistant business manager of the Daily Democrat, beginning his duties this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Holthouse went to California last July following their wedding, Mr. Holthouse being connected 4ith an oil company while there. TO REOPEN SUGAR PLANT THIS WEEK Factory to Be Opened Again After Being Closed For Lack Os Beets Tim Hollaml-St. Louis /company's sugar factory in this city will re-open Wednesday morning, at 6 o'lock, it was announced by officials of the company today. The factory has been elos- ' ied since Saturday morning, dtie to the lack of beets on hands. | The freezing weather and snow during the most of last week, made it imI possible for the farmers to lift their beets and consequently, the supply on hands at the factory before the cold I weather set in, was soon exhausted. The weather has improved greatly during the last two days and the beets i are arriving at the factory in large i' numbers again. There would probably have been en<igh beets on hands to ■ reopen the factory Tuesday morning, I but since the city election will be held on Tuesday, the company officials de- | elded to wa’it until Wednesday to start ■ the factory . DECATUR COUPLE MARRIED 50 YEARS I Mr. And Mrs. Will R. Smith Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday was a happy day for Mrand Mrs. Will R. Smith, of thia, city, It being the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and their children and families ami a number of relatives came here to observe the jubilee day with them. Mr. and Mrs. Smith wore married fifty years ago Sunday. November I,' at the bride's home, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Rice, who formerly lived on the Bellview farm, east of Decatur. The sons and daughters and their ( children arrived in the city Saturday and were taken to the Lutx home? where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith. They surprised their parents Sunday when they came to the Lutz home, expecting dinner to be served there, but were taken to the Murray Hotel, where another surprise awaited them, a number of relatives from the city and mt-of-town joining the happy family there- Dinner was served at the hotel, fifty-eight guests being present. Jeff Bryson, of Portland, acted as toastmaster and talks were made by Mr. and Mrs. Smith, their children and Mr. C. J. Lutz, who was a guest. | The tables were attractively decorated in cut flowers,’favors being, mimiture golden wedding bells. Fol-' lowing the dinner, the afternoon was enjoyed at the hotel.
