Suttles Thursday evening, has been changed to the home of Mrs. Irvin Elzey, on Short street. Mem bers are urged to come masked. A good attendance is desired. The Monmouth High School and grades will hold the second annual Hallowe'en fun festival Friday evening. October 30. Plans are being made for a real Hallowe'en celebration. There will be clowns. gypsy fortune telling, fishing ponds, ghost games, a band, box social and many other < vents. A prize will be given the best masked person and, one to the most popular lady. The grammar students will give an entertainment. The public is invited to attend. • <• The Indies Aid Society of the Presbyterian church will meet at the home of Mrs. C. A. Dugan Thursday afternoon. The Adams County Medical Society held a very interesting meeting in the office of Dr. E. Franz, at Berne, last evening. Dr. D. D. Jones read a very interesting paper on "Constipation." After the business meeting, Mrs. Franz and daughters served doughnuts and hot coffee. Those who attended were Drs. D. D. Jones. H. F. Jones, Reusser. of Berne; Hinchman, of Geneva; Somers, Rayl. Imse. Beu Beavers, Miller, and Burns, of th, city: A. J. Miller. of Monroe. The next meeting will be held in this city and Dr. F. \V. Lose will have the paper. The Ladies’ Aid Society of the Zion Lutheran church will meet at the parsonage at or r o'clock Thursday afternoon. Tile attendance of every member is urged. The Younf' Matrons' Club met last evening at the home of Mrs. Dallas Goldner. After the business meeting. Mrs. Hulda Schreyer. Mrs. Peggy Crist | and Airs. Emma Goldner sang a group of songs. Oct. 28.—Laverne Heche of Vera Cruz, was found guilty again of liquor law violation Tuesday at a trial held before Special Judge John Edtis in city court. The court found Heche guilty of three counts, namely, transporting, possessing and giving liquor to Sam Gehring on Septamber 12. 1626, and assessed a fine of SIOO and sentenced the defendant to serve 60 days at the state farm. Heche is charged with liquor law violation in five eases, two tiled in the city court and three in the circuit com I. The case yesterday ends his trials in the city court. He was found guilty a-few days ago in the first case, which was tried before a jury, and he has also appealed that case. His bond in all five cases is s'<ooo, and for that reason, Special? Judge John Edris made his bond in the case tried yesterday $500._ Heche has appealed both the cases tried in the city court. Q Rapid City, S. I)., Is Coldest Spot In U. S. Norfolk. *Neh.. ONE OF CITY’S MOST PROMINENT CITIZENS PASSES (Continued from page one) (floss) Niblick. He was educated in the Decatur common and high sellools. Mr. Niblick entered the service of the Old Adams County ( Bank at the age of fourteen and for forty-five years he has been con-1 nedted with that institution, holding] every position the exception of vice-president. Mr. Niblick has long been a figure' in Indiana bunking circles. His first position with the Old Adams County Bank was that of book-keep-er, when that concern was still known as The Adams County Bank. He then served as olerk, - assistant eashler and cashier before becoming president. He was elected president of the bank in 1906, which position he has held continuously until Ills death. Faithful Public Servant Mr. Niblick has always been a faithful public servant- He was identified with tho American Security Company as a director and Adams County Auto company as secretary. He was, at the time of his death, a director in the Provident Building and Dian association; the Washington township advisory board and tho De- , catur Community Chautauqua associ- . ation. He has been active for more . than forty years in all civic affairs ,cf Decatur and Adams county. He has served as treasurer of more org- , an.zations than any other man in the county. He was a charter member of the local Knights of ColunV bus and later was honored by receivnig the Fourth degree, and a charter . member of the B. I’. O. Elks. He served as Grand Knight of the 'Knights of Columbus from 1909 to . 1911 and during the remainder of I i the time since the organizing of | that lodge he has been treasurer. He' | was also state treasurer of the Kn ghts of Columbus for two years. He has been treasurer of the Elks , since the organizing in this city. Mr, Niblick was a faithful member i of the Decatur Rotary club and his , death is the first one in that organization sinoe its founding in this city. Mr. Niblick, acted as chairman of the finance committee of the new Catholic school and saw that project • grew from a dream to an actuality. IHe was a faithful member of I the St. Mary's Catholic church. , He has been an advisor and friend of both young and old people of this community than a quartdf ’ of a century and was one of the best known and highly respected c'tizens of the community. Widow and Children Survive All his life. Mr. Niblick has workid for a better Decatur and Adams » county. In 1889. he was married to (Miss Minnie Waldron, of Niagara • Falls. New York. Mrs. Niblick and ■, four chtldren survive. The children f are Dr. James Stewart Niblick, of ? Indiana Harbor; Mrs. Perry Gandy, of near Fort Wayne; Margaret and - Charlotte, at home. Three grand I children also survive. They are . Naomi 'Gandy, a daughter of Mrs. 'Fviiy »<ar,dy. tuid t iiailes and Aunar Be le Niblick, children of Dr. Nib- —— ■ - -
lick. Two brothers, Dunlol M. and John, of this city, and two Miss Amelia and Miss Mary, of this city, also survive. Two brothers, William and James, preceded Mr Niblick in death several years ago. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning from the St. Mary’s Catholic church with solemn .requiem high mass conducted by the I Rev. J. A. Selmetz.
