Miss Donna Parrish, daughter of Mrs. Nora Parrish, of Elm street, and Mr. Frank L. Rowley, were quietly married Monday noon at the First Methodist Church parsonage, at Cov-i ington. Ky„ by the Rev. Charles W. Graham. The bride is a proniineuL young lady of this city and is popular in social circles. She is a graduate; of Decatur high school, a member of the Psi lota Xi sorority, and of the Tri D„ Club, and has been engaged in stenographic work for the past four years. Mr. Rowley is a representative of the Russell Manufacturing Company, of Middletown. Conn., with headquarters at Fort Wayne. After October 15; Mr. and Mrs. Rowley will be at home with the bride’s mother. The Historical club will meet at the home of Mrs. Pauline Butler, o;t South Ihird street, at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Lottie Runyon will be the leader. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Play And Box Social At Rhenicker School A home-talent play and box social will be given at tj;e Rhenicker school building, one mile north of Monroe, on Friday evening, October 16. The title of tho play is, *'Dei>artmental Work ut Squiggabcc School.” In addition to the play and box social, there will be several other forms of amusement and fun for all persons present. Crownoter is teacher at the Rhenicker sclmol. , o Mitchell Sends Message To Legion Convention Omaha, Neb., Oct. 6. — (United Cross)—Colonel "BUly” Mitchell, former chief of air forces, unable to attend the American Legion convention here because of courAuartial proceedings in Washington, today telegraphed his former “buddies” asking them to aid him in his fight for a separate air department The message read by Captain Julius 1. Peysw, department commander of the District of Columbhia before the convention, follows; “The time has come when we must modernixe our national defense, teach our people what it means and organize it in a simple, direct and efficient manner. This can be brought about by creating a department of national defense, with sub-heads for the army, the navy and the air, “it is one of the broadest questions before the country today. In the interest of economy and efficiency, it is not a question of persons or of political party. It is one which concerns the national security of this greatest of all nations. o There will be a meeting for all Boy Scouts, Junior Scouts and their parents at the old gymnasium Tuesday evening.
