Lt us all join in making this a happy Sunday evening for soejal and spiritual profit. o First Os Gary Men To Be Paroled On August 28 Gary, Ind., Aug. 15—The first of the "big five" defendants in the fam cus Gary booze conspiracy case will be paroled from the Atlanta Federal penitentiary on August 23. it was announced today. Lew former president of the board of public works, is to be paroled according to Harry Arnold, prominent democratic potltieian. Dwight Kinder, former Lake county prosecutor, B. A. Lucas and Clyde Hunter, attorneys, will also be eligible to parole August 28 and their release is expected with that of Barrnes or soon after. Roswell Johnson, former mayor and the otehr member of the "big five" wfl not be eligible to parole until later in the fall. HOSPITAL NOTES Edith Hoile, of Decatur, route three, was admitted to the Adams County Memorial Hospital this morning where she will .receive medical treatmnt. Robert Parish,, five year old lad of Berne, underwent an immergency operation fdjr ruptured appendix this afternoon, and is getting allong nicely. Dr. . P. Hinchman, of Geneva, who was operated on several days ago, is getting along vry nicely. "It is absurd to say that the marriage has been broken", Miss Fletcher told me emphatically in an exclusive interview before the Berengaria steamed out. “It is merely postponed, the count is following me to America later where we will be married. 0 — Raising Fund To Bring War Hero’s Body Home Columbus, Ind-, Aug. 15 —A fund is being raised in Bartholomew county to aid in bringing back the body of Orville Meyer, former Columbus boy. from Belgium, where he was killed during the wor'd war. Meyer was one of the first American soldiers who died on the battlefield in the war. His mother, Mrs- Mary Wilkerson, now living in Decatur, 111, will go to Belgium to rretdrn the body. Mr. Striker, the new superintendent, lias been attending summer school at Indiaa University tills summer. He is a graduate of that university, having completed his work for an A B. degree n 1924 He s now workng for n M A. degree. Mr. Strker was principal ot the Monroe high school last year. He is a graduate of the Berne high school and has taught in te schools of Monroe township and the Hartford township high school. F!< spent nine months in the U. Ward Gets Petition For McCray’s Pardon ln<lianapo4|ls—The pardon application of Warren T. McCray former governor of Indiana was received today at the office of Albert Ward district attorney. The petition and the letters of recommendation with it were sent to Ward by attorney gnral Sargent to whom it was presented earlier in the week. It will be given the usual consideration, Alexander Cavins assistant district attorney saidIn the absence of Ward who is on vacation, Cavins refused to make public the petition and the letter. o I Rifles Distributed To Fayette County Banks Connersville, Ind.. Aug. 15 —Twentyfour Krag rifles furnished by the govrmnent were distributed today among tile banks of Fayette County. 1 The rifles will lie used in case of attempted bank robberies.
