TAX BOARD GETS MOREREJECTIONS County Officials Threaten Court Action To Prevent Assessment Boost Indianapolis, Aug. 6 — State tax ' commissioners today scouted the possibility of court action by county offij cials to prevent the board's recoin- ! mendation on assessments of real es- • tate and personal property from being 1 placed in effect. I Orders of the board are not sub- ' Ject to court injunction, according to the members of the body. The board will meet next week to consider recommendations of boards of review in counties where assessment orders of the state tux body were rejected. If the county boards of review show the state tax commissioners sufficient reason why the orders should be modified. they will be changed, Phillip Zo--1 crochet, tax board member declared. Otherwise the orders of the board will be final, he said. After surveying assessment figures from all the counties in the state with the exception of two, the state tax board last week oredered increases ranging from five to one hundred percent on property in fifty counties. The county boards of review, are meeting this week to consider the orders ofthe state tax board and in many cases are rejecting the recommendations. Reports came to the board yester- ; day that Laporte. Grant and Warrick • County boards of review had rejected ■ the increases recommended. • Similar action has been taken by numerous other counties already under discussion of an attempt to secure a • court injunction against state tax : board marked refusal of some of the county review boards. After protests of counties rejecting the recommendations are heard next week, valuations of al property in the state will be fixed and the board will ' set the state tax levy for next year. 1 _— o i Farmers Learning Value Os Marl As A Fertilizer

in north central Indiana is weekly becoming more apparent, according to Tom Parker, agricultural agent for Kosciusko county. He estimates that 25.000 cubic yards have been taken from six pits in the, county during the last year and this marl has been hauled to farms at distant points. The marl is being sold to land owners at the pits at 65 cents a cubic yard. The demand for the marl has been such that steps are now being taken to open half a dozen more pits in this county. -...- o WANT ADS EARN—s—s $ s—s—s—WANT ADS KARN—B—3-1
