June 25—Preparations for a state-wide survey of rural educational conditions were advanced a step Wednesday following the meeting of the rural education committee appointed by Governor Jackson. George Freeman, of Kokomo, Howard county representative in the legislature, was named chairman of the committee, and Charles A. Greathouse Indianapolis, was selected secretary. Greathouse is a former state superintendent of public instruction. Provision for the survey was made at the last session of the legislature and Governor Jackson was authorized to appoint the committee. The organization meeting was held Tuesday in the office of Dr. Henry N. Sherwood, state superintendent of public instruction, and hte committee later conferred with the governor. ■ ■- - —o- —— JAIL BREAKER CAUGHT Young Bandit Who Escaped From Prison By Mailing Self In Box Is Taken At South Bend. South Bend, Ind., June 24.—After two months of frerfom. Harry Bryant, 23-year-old bandit, today awaited arrival Os Michigan authorities to take htim back to the Marquette prison. Bryant was caught when he came here to meet his mother. He escaped from the Marquette prison by nailing himself in a packing box. June 25-- "It’s an ill wind that blow* nobody good”, is tho comeback of small boys of Syracuse who are now reaping a big hari vest as a result of the recent drought They are selling angleworms, better known as fish worms, to vacationists at from one to three cents each.
