r John Duvall, klan candidate, was nominated for mayor by the Republicans at Indianapolis yesterday while the Democrats selected Walter Mey ers. a brilliant attorney and leading citizen. It will probably be a red hot campaign. r, The county council has voted an appropriation of SI,OOO with which to build outside entrances to the comfort stations in the court house. We believe this will prove a very popular improvement and will meet the requirement <, twenty four hours in the day. William Hosey was nominated by the Democrats of Fort Wavne yes terday for his fourth term while the Republicans selected William Geake. a well known attorney, which no doubt means a real HxuUcst. "Mr. Hosey has a very good record and a host of friends who will go the limit for him while Mr. Geake is an able . caitwguer. Tile vote cast by the Democrats yesterday in the city primary was about ninety per cent, of their strength as compared to previous elee tiott ■ In the presidential election last yeir they cast 1.528 votes while the Republicans bail 1.164 in the city. The vote yesterday was 1,450 Democratic and 233 Republican. Four years ago in the primary, with three candidates for mayor, the vote was less than l. while in the November election DeVoss received 1.425 votes and * Colter 1.135. The Democratic vote m- lerd iy was therefore about a nor m. it one. The Republican vote of course was light beeaiute there were no contests and many of them did not go to the polls.
