In accordance with tradition stirrounding the ancient Greek penlathlon or group games comprising five different events, the Indiana University physical education department revivied and adapted this event for the boys and girls of Indiana's public schools three years ago. Since it would Im unfair to have hoys of the fifth grade compete with high schools the competition is divided into eight weight classes. The individual making the host r"c/ird in any one event wil. be known as the high point champion in that weight and event, while the boy and girl making the most points in five different events will be crowned pentathlon champion in his or her class. The five individuals in any one weight class from one school system whose individual points total most, will he acclaimed Indiana State Pentathlon Team Champions for their class. Poth individual awards and team trophies wil be presented the winners. The different weight divisions are as follows: 65 pounds and under. 6G to So pounds, SI to 95 pounds. 9« to 110 pounds, 111 to 125 pounds, 126 to 40 pounds. 11l to 155 pounds, and over 155 pounds. Competition will 1 end in this year’s pentathlon on May--15 and the results will bo announced following that date

Charley Hartnett hit two homers ami helped the Cubs beat the Pirates S to 3. I « Cincinnati took possession of first place ini the National league by winning the third straight game from the Cards, 7 to 3. R'xey allowed only two hits after the second inning. With a barrage in the ninth inning that blasted McNamara out of the box. the Giants beat the Braves, 8 to 1. Two runs scored by Glen Hyatt, star catcher, enabled Cleveland to beat the Browns, 2to 1.
