FRUIT SPRAYS ABE DUE SOON County Agent (iives Advice On Various Sprays And Their Use Hy (huinty Agent— With tlie first sirns of spring now here many farmers ure looking forward to a crop of apples this year to make up for the relatively small crop of 1924. But, along with such optimistic hopes, come reminders that many different fruit pests are Jusr as anxiously looking forward to a gu»<d feast on aples. To combat these enemies and insure fruit free from disease of all kinds, systematic iTraylng is necessary. As one drives through Adams county it is sben that many farmers have already given old man "San Jose Scale" a severe trouncing via the lime-sulphur route. This spray, known as the dormant spray, should be ap plied immediately if such has not already been done, since the material wil severely burn tjie foliage if its applicaioß is delayed until leafing out begins. Several are using an oil spray which is obtainable locally, because it is less objectionable when the operator receives some of the material intended for the scale. The dormant sprtiy has nothing whatever to do with the obtaining 'of clear fruit. To prevent scab, worms eurculio and blotqh, special fruit sprays are recommended. The first important fruit spray consists of one gallon liquid lime-sulphur on three and one half pounds dry lime-sulphur along with one and one-half poumls arsenate of lead powder in fifty gallons of water. It should be applied just as the blossom buds before they open. This is known as the "pink spray". The pedal fall spray is applied just as the pedals fall, but before the calyx lolies close on the little apple which has just formed. The sprav material should’ be toe same as used in the "pink spray”. This spray is probably the most effective from the "wormy apple" standpoint. The next spray is applied about three weeks after the pedal fall and should be made up in the same way as for the two sprays pdeceding. Other sprays special for fruit are recommended for those who wish ot produce clean fruit for the market. Bulletin’s explaining in detail how sprays are to be applied may be oh tained free at the county agent’s office.

The instrument showed the earth movements started at 4:15 and reached the highest point at 4:35 o’clock. The earthquake which rocked Central America Sunday was predicted Saturday by Prof. Bendandi’s forecaster and the Italian seismogolist in a United Press dispatch from Faenau. Bendandi’s forecast of an earthquake in New York was borne out a month ago. He announced Saturday that a quake of marked violence would occur in Central America Sunday; that earth tremors would also be felt in North America, and that an earthquake would occur in the far east probably Monday night. Bendandi predicted earthquake in Japan two years ago and the accuracy of his forcasts has attracted wide attention to his observatory in Faenau. 0 Capture Five Convicts ! Who Escape From Prison ! —to build up Weight/ K Z' 'Sx Any WOMAN, any man, can now have a well-developed face and form. The whole, simple secret of a well-developed form is in the number of blood-cells in your body. You can now forget all the theoretical talk about diet, exercise, fad treatments, food-fats and fat-foods. Nothing is of any use, after all, except bloodcells ! Thin, run-down men and women, with bony necks, sunken cheeks, bony shoulders — all these are suffering from one thing—too few blood-cells. Science has proved that S.S.S. helps to make the rich red-blood-ceils, which you need. Your blood is starving for these new blood-cells! Give your blood the blood-cells it needs—lake S.S.S. the great scientific bloodcell maker. S.S.S. has done marvels, too, in making beautiful complexions, clearing the skin, making lips rosy red, the cheeks full and plump—because it rids the blood of impurities which cause pimples, blackheads, acne, blotches, eczema, tetter, rash and rheumatism, too. As the medicinal ingredients of S.S.S. are purely vegetable, it may be taken with perfect safety. This is why S.S.S., since 1826, has meant to thousands of underweight men and women a plus in their strength. Start taking S.S.S. today’ and your great problem, that of your personal appearance, can be solved. S. S. S. is sold at all good drug stores in two six-s. The larger size I is more economical.
