W ■" J I. - u- - Jt is rumored that four cabinet members will probably resign. U that's true it's probably by requt st tor they fight too hard tn land these places to give them up so easily. A California woman has ((included a term in congress with a record of not having made a speech. Such a record to hand down to her grand children. And they won't believe it even when they read it in their histories. ■ ■ i i»J W..!L .."JIL’.BF 1 What ever became of those oldfashioned bosses who announced that no girl who bad bobbed hair could work in their office? We haven't llfrard from him for so long that tear b« has been forced out of bo IWC.G3 for lack of employes. ■" «'SI* - .lu-t <>n» more week for those eiti»cn» who wish to serve in city jobs to file their names with the city clerk. But don't get excited, that’s long enough and by a week from tomorrow night more than likely there will be candidates for every Job. « ■' tL.-Jt-J 1 -L J The pre-Easter services now in progress in several Decatur churches are attracting crowds and the intere I manifested is the best tonic any church can have. The pastor needs yuur services if he is to win in the great fight in which be is engaged and it's your fight as well as his. The cabinet officers have assured r ( e.ident Coolidge that the present era of prosperity is to continue. W aat are they talking about? We have heard it heralded and predicted but. always "Just oround the corner." The, average farmer and the average small tuun merchant has not yet felt, this wonderful era they talk about. Does the statement mean that this is all there is to it? If so. a lot of fellows luay as well begin to look for a job. The Mid West Review has s'at\ed a movement to secure the inauguration of the President thirty daysifter election and argues that a President In power and unfriendly to the Presi-I dopt elect can during lour months do* great injury and it is not only the* Ppe ident but often an unfriendly congress. It is also argimd that the lungress elected last November will* nul get into real action until next December, yet. are carrying the re- 1 miuaaibillties of their office. The date was fixed at four months after election a ccnturv ago when travel was slow and news was not. heralded aver the nation as it is now. There* uiay be good reasoning in the suggestion.

orders which they have disgraced. They no donbU-wffl be in this case. The waters have receded from the flooded districts in southern Indiana, and the wreckage from the terrible cyclone is being cleared awviy but it will be mouths before the unfortunate people who lost all they had and who are trying with broken hearts to smile again, will be able to meet the trials of the world unless they have assistance. Will Try To Crow Grass At Sides Os State Hoads Indianapolis, Ind ~ Mar. 27 —Intensive efforts will be made by the state highway departnfent this spring to grow a June grass at the sides of state roads in order to protect the berms from rapid deterioration front traffic which occasionally gets off the pavement, as well as to protect roadsides frost wasli and erosion. Before towing which will be done within the next few duyi maintenance forces are engaged ed in filling and repairing ’gulleys in road shoulders, leveling raw shoulders where pavement was built last season and getting the roadsides in such shape that when the grass stand sets, it will be possible to keep it cut with a mower. Instructing maintenance field forces in this preparatory work, slate highway officials have ordered that water, if any. be drained off road surfaces ami repairs matt-' where it appears it is inclined to stand, and stick-,, stones and other debris should b“ removed before grass and weeds start glowing. "Please keep in mind that it is on tlm better improved toads tnat it is most important to care for the road sides,” reads the fie-’d instructions. “On the poorer roads, less traveled roads and those' highways that will be torn up for paving or overhauling within a year or so. we can not justify tifte spending of a great deal of money for 'dolling up' the roadsides.”
