Walter Baker, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker, who suffered a broken left leg and other injuries when a Pennsylvania passenger train struck the Baker automobile at a crossing here recently, killing his brother, Thomas, and fatally injuring Mrs. Robert Chronister, is able to walk on crutches now and is improving rapidly. The four-ycar-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Schindler, of Berne, underwent an operation at the Mossman hospital in Berne aC lir o’clock yesterday morning for double hernia. .Mrs. J. H. Voglewede and daughter Hertha, visited friends and relatives at Fort Wayne this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Crozier, of Union township, were shoppers in the city today. The presence of every member is desired. Mrs. Avon Burk will enterlajii the members of her Bridge Club Thursday evening at her home on Fourth street. The regular meeting of the Friday Night Club will be held with Mrs. George Flanders Friday night. The Afternoon Bridge Club was entertained Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. John Tyndall at her home on Third street. Mrs. (Jan Tyndall was the only guest besides the club members. The Foreign Missionary society of the Methodist church will meet Friday afternoon at two o’clock with Mrs. M. E. Hower on Fourth street. The Epworth League of the Methodist church wll give utwo-cent super in the basement of the church from 5 to 7 o'clock Saturday evening. The public is invited. The members of the Decatur Ben Hur lodge will celebrate the thirtyfirst anniversary of the Supreme Court of Hen Hurs and the twentyfifth anniversafy of the- local ‘court next Friday night. The Fort Wayne court will be present with a large delegation and a program of music, readings and talks will be given. Attorney C. L. \\alters will give an 'address, a!so. S. grain future division of the department of justice to conduct an investigation into the recent spectacular drops in the prices of wheat on the Chicago board of trade and other exchanges.
