' .... , - T . ■ . FARMERS - Why not devote part of your cultivated acreage this year to Northern Indiana’s Most Reliable Crop ALTHO WE HAD AN UNUSUAL BACKWARD SPRING THAT RETARDED ALL CROP GROWTH—ADAMS COUNTY FARMERS ARE REALIZING APPROXIMATELY $125,000.00 ON THEIR BEET CROPS IN 1924 Are You Going To Make Part Os Your Acreage A “Ready Proposition This Year? Written By A Beet Grower “The beet industry is universally conceded to be the most important in this part of the state. Corn may be more basic- Milk may be considered a greater necessity than sugar. But from the standpoint of giving a living both directly and indirectly to the largest number of people in this section and from the standpoint of adding wealth tu our communities, no crop has accomplished mo e and is better adapted to bring about these results than the sugar beet crop. “We could sing its praise in notes of exultation. It stands comparison with any other crop we raise so advantageously and it is the only money crop considered by many of our farmers.” » The Beet Crop Is The Surest We Can Raise withstanding drought, hail and wet weather better than any other controlled crop. Indeed there is no pest to Infest the beet crop which is not controllable. No Contracted Crop Goes Better With Stock Raising Than Beets because of the by products of pulp and tops. No Crop Is Surer of A Market The demand for sugar in-the United States has never been supplied from the product of cane and beets raised it home. You have heard of corn crops waiting for a market, or low yields of wheat not worth harvesting, of cattle turned into corn fields, and oats not threshed on account of wet weather. BUT YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BEETS REMAINING IN THE FIELD UNHA RVESTED FOR WANT OF A MARKET. No Crop Can Be Converted Into A More Suitable Form For Distance Shipment It Is One of The Best Crops For Rotating With Other Crops The intensive cultivation of the beet crop, the open condition of the soil in late fall after harvesting, leave the ground in fine shape for the next year’s crop. Because of those advantages of ability, both of the crop and of the market, grower and manufacturer can make their plans foi 'the future with a greater degree of assurance that then plans can be executed than could be dene with any other crop. No Crop Lends Itself Better To The Making of Loans No Crop Is Belter Calculated To Attract and Hold Laboring People who may be used at intervals where there is no beet work to tend and harvest other crops. There isn’t a crop that has so many natural advantages to recommend it to the farmer and to the manufacturer as the sugar beet. Growers who followed our suggestion in the spring of 1924 and used what is known as the PARTICIPATING CONTRACT, are realizing today a BONUS of $2.57 a Ton in addition to the regular guarantee. The outlook for sugar for the coming year is very promising. Will you receive your share next year? who appreciate the above facts are signing conww 1-rflVO t, ac f s f or fj ie coming year rapidly.
