Catholic High Girls Play At Huntington The Catholic high school girls’ basketball team wll go to Huntington tonight to play the St. Marys high school girls’ team of that city. Ritola had a cinch winning his race and he turned in the time of 9:0.3 4-5, making it the fastest two miles that had ever been run. — „ PRIMARY LAW BILL IS DYING Measure Providing For Referendum On Law Faces Siow Death (UNITED PRESS SERVICE) Indianapolis. Feb. 13—(Special to Pail’ - Democrat)—The English bill for a referendum on the primary law today faced a slow death in the senate. The senate elections committee, which has had the bill for four days has made no move toward submitting r port on the measure. Leaders of both houses declare Hat the question of revision of the primary law is a dead issue in the present session of the Legislature. The senate Thursday afternoon killed a second hili to amend thebanking laws. The bill had been introduced by Senator Southworth to i overcome the objections raised to another banking bill put to death earlier in the session. Senators opposed to the bill defeated it with arguments that it would concentrate power in the hands of the statu banking commission and squeeze out smaller private banks and trust companies. With an amendment providing that cities and towns may exercise local i ption on the question of Sunday mm L>s and entertainments. the Leonard ‘Blue Sunday” bill was reported out of committee in the senate and advanced to second reading. By a vote of 52 to 41 the house killed the Mendenhall bill to give the public service commission jurisdiction over the sale of securities by public utilities. Representative Harris of Gary, declared the bill did not give the commission any more power than it has under the present statutes. The Situs bill placing small wagon mines under the regulation of the mine safety law was sent to the house today, having been passed by the senate by a vote of 31 to 13. The senate advanced to engrossment the farmers cooperative marketing bill and the Cann bill to Increase the gasoline tux from two to three cents. A favorable report was made by the senate finance committee on the administration bills to consolidate fees and taxes in the general fund and to make the budget committee a permanent body.
