-— ’■—■ — ~ w LEADERS LOSE TO BERNE FIVE' Decatur Quintet Defeated In Listless (Janie Last Night, 21-18 In a Ihtlfns gump which was spoiled by too close officiating, the Berne A C. quintet defeated tho Decatur Leaders at Borno last night, 24-18. The series between the two teams' now stands one-all, tho Loaders having won the first game hero Tuesday night by a score of 40-18. The defeat last night was the fourth loss suffer-! <-d by the Leaders in eighteen games this season. The first half of the game last night was fairly well played- The Berne team got away to an early lead and was out in front 9 0 before the Loaders scored. The Decatur five then rallied and held the lead. 12 9 at the rest period. In the second half the referee began calling fouls with great rapidity. lie called eleven personal fouls on the Decatur' players during the last half and two' on Berne, and Bill Crist was sent to; the showers with four personals charged to him. Manager Ralph Yager took his place and played the last eight minutes. Murray Mendenhall and Oliver each had three per sonals and Kennedy and Andrews were charged with two offenses each The players wore called for running with the ball very frequently, also, which slowed up the game. Gale. Berne center, got going in the last half, also, and scored three field goals and two free throws. The two teams will meet in the third and deciding game of the series in this city sometime soon, the date not having been selected yet.
