WILL PLAY PORTLAND TEAM Fast Independent Team Coming For Gaine Here Thursday Night The Genera) Electric basketball team will play the Portland Independents at. the high school gym'here Thursday evening. The Portland team comes to Decatur with a string nr con'ecutive victories to its credit. Tiie lineup will include Brubaker. Eddy, Crane and Monks, forwards: Ford and Gullion. centers; and Oren. Pyle and Fleming, guards. Manager Earl Blackburn will use the mime lineup against Portland that defeated the Warsaw Phi Dells l.ere two weeks ago, ho staled today, namely Claude Clark and Gale, forwards; Oliver, center; Topple and Whiteman, guards. The Decatur Wonder Five will play Doe Fryback’s merchants in the preliminary game. LEADERS DEFEAT LAGRANGE TEAM Locals Win Sixth Straight Game Last Night, Score 29-18 The Decatur Leaders won their sixth consective game last night when they defeated th" American Legion team at the high school gym by a score of 29-18. The game was fairly closely contested, especially during the first half and the early '■ part of the second half. Only a fair sized crowd of fans saw the gaino. Manager Yager of the Leaders was forced to send a patched up lineup into the game, due to the absence of Murray Mendenhall and "Tabby” Andrews. but the combination worked well together and showed a superiority over the visitors. Mendenhall was unable to he with the Leaders last night because the Fort Wayne j Central high school team, which he coaches, played South Side high i school last night. Andrews was suffering with a heavy cold and was not in condition to play Jack Teeple. i member of the G. The Bluffton Phi Delta, with their lineup bolstered by the addition of Crane, Hartford City sharpshooter, lost to the Montpelier K. of P. quintet at Montpelier Monday night, 43 to 33. Montpelier led throughout the game. Down at Wabash. Indiana, they have a bunch of cats that have more than the proverbial nine lies each. Although the Wabash Thom Cats have been beaten in nine consecutive games this season, they are still kick ing and now are declining that their first victory will be over Fort Wayne South Side at Wabash Friday night.
