Chicago, JYo are about to start a new year ot the Industrial Association. Lets make it the best in all history. That can only be done if the officials who ever they may be have the united support of every member of the association and every citizen here. Its your work is done through the officials and they can only succeed as you permit them. The association is finan daily sound, is a going, live and splendid organization for the good of all of us. France Center, Cal Peterson and George Krick were the members of the board of directors elected at the annual meeting of the Industrial Association last evening. The board con sists of nine members, three of whom are elected each year. These three young and active business men will serve the community in an excellent manner for they have had experience, know what the needs ot Decatur are. will work for them and will prove their worth in the future as they have in the past. Governor Ed Jackson promises to carefully look after the interests of everyone, regardless of party or creed but his words weigh less when it is remembered that he refused to recognize the election of a democratic judge, refuses to follow rules of precedent in api>ointnients, managed so his brother secured the management of the Feeble Minded Home and his aits up to date have been just about the opposite from his hue sentiment as expressed in his inaugural address. We have about concluded he is a slippery politician, pure and simple. It is needless to say that we appreciate the splendid co operation of 1 the farmers and landowners along i the route between this city and the Allen county line. Practically. every i one of them has shown interest and i the record made by the committee yesterday has perhaps never been equalled in Indiana. Almost the cm I I re eight miles has been signed up ' on lite easements and it will very I probably be up to the state highway 1 commission to make good on their I promises to give us the road during > this year. II is hoped that by to I morrow a complete report can lie 1 made. Most important of the matters lak i cn up at the Industrial meeting last \ Might was the approval voted to sup- I port County Agent Busche in hi:: I ■work to organize several junior clubs ' over tile county. They will financial- I ly support the corn cluln calf club, i sugar beef club and will leihl their i aid in every way possible to make tliei.e associations of greatest good Thin is an agricultural county and any Improvement of condition; , any tiling which adds to the interest in that wort, any thing which helps Io make the boys and girls take a part in tin' work of producing crops and raising tuck ami stick to the farm and enjoy JI and profit by it. m the thi ng that ought to be dot;e by this li ■ city aud county. We can- I io! imagine a happier gift for a pc'r- ■ •on so unfortunate as to be unable | to see or read. We hope the good people of this community will respond liberally and speedily to the request for funds for this purpose. The list is published today. See that yours is added. j The annua! session of the Decatur Industrial Association held last evening was a splendid one and the in- | ’’rest manifested is the surest sign I ’hat we propose to keep on going in i Hie right direction. The matter of j employing a paid secretary to devote 1 Ids entire time Io the betterment of 'his community was discussed from ■very angle and will probably be takn up by the board al their lirst meetmg. We feel sure that some action which will at least be a start will Ito taken and we arc likewise certain ' ’hat after wo have tried it for a year wo will continue to enlarge this blanch of service.
