The Hipskind Heating company of Wabash has the contract for this ( work. Miss Rowena Shoaff wffo spent the Christmas holidays in the city with j friends and relatives left yesterday for Detroit. Miss Shoaff is a nurse . at the Ford hospital. A truck load of bodies from the Auburn Motor car company at Auburn passed through Decatur today. The bodies are made at Portland. Several farmers called at (he Daily Democrat today and renewed their subscription to the paper for 1!*25. The twenty-second annual renewal campaign of the Daily Democrat is now in progress. Postmaster Harry Frltzinger will have his annual report for the year 1924 ready by the first of the week. It is thought that the total business for the year will exceed that of a year ago. The Christmas rush was one of the heaviest of the year. Miss Helen Everett returned to ItloOmington this morning to resume her studies at Indiana University, after spending the holidays here with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. John Stoneburner. of Midwest, Wyo.. former residents of this city, arrived this afternoon and will take up their residence oh their farm in Washington township. Mr. Stoneburner operated and owned the first movie house in this city. The Misses Gerladinc Everett. Naomi Harklcss and Marcella 1 lower will return to Indianapolis tomorrow, to resume their studies at Madam Blaker's School, after spending the Christinas holidays here with rela-i tives. Indianapolis. Indianapolis Couple Refused License Here Disappointment showed on their faces as County Clerk John E. Nelson I ,informed a young couple at. the, clerk’s office that he could not issue i
a marriage license to them. The man and woman were residents of Indianapolis und they forgot to secure their license before coming here. The bride-to-be was accompanied to the clerk's office by her uncle, a minister from Ohio, who was to perform the ceremony and when informed that the license could not be issued here the keen disappointment which the couple experienced was registered on their faces. Someone’ iu the clerk's office remarked that the roads were to bad to drive to Hillsdale and that iu all probability the couple would have to go hack home to secure their license. According to’law a marriage license must be obtained in the county in which the bride resides. The minister who was with 1 the couple remarked that he had mailed a letter to his niece advising ■ hereto get the license before they ■ came here.
