MOTHER DIED AT PORTLAND — Mother Os Charles Throp Died At Age Os 76; Funeral Tuesday Martha Jane Throp. age 76 years, mother of Charles Throp, of this city, died Sunday evening at her home In Portland, following an illness of four-, teen weeks from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Throp had been seriously ill for the last three weeks and her death was expected. Mrs. Throp was the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Wright and was born August 24, 1848. in Darke county. Ohio. She came to this city at the close of the Civil War. On December 17, 1865, she was married to Tunis Throp, who died March 21, 1911. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edith Bye, of Portland; four sons, Jesse Thorp, of Angola; Harry Thorp, of Portland;'

Burke, secretary of the Indiana Gau Association, a recent survey, to moa|sure th<- development nf the gas In |dustry, shows that 312 Hoosiers cut of every thousand are now using artificial gas for cooking, heating or lighting. "Indiana ranks ninth among all the states with regard to the numbet of gas consumers" said Mr. Burke "Almost a million Indiana people are making some artificial gas. This is an unusually large number considering the fact, that in many of the smaller communities, lhe people are able to obtain enough natural to supply their ctMiking needs."
