MUNCIE BEATS LEADERS AGAIN Decatur Team Beaten, 42-1 26; Hartford City Phi Belts Here Tonight The Muncie Merchants again triumphed over the Decatur Leaders in a well played basketball game al Muncie last night, the final score being 42-26. This was the second game lost by the Leaders this season and rthe Muncie quintet was the victor in both contests. Mark Bills was not in the Leaders’ lineup last night. Murray Mendenhall, crack forward on the Decatur team, apparently had an off night and registered only three field goals (luring the contest. Ogver and Andrews each scored four field goals. Thorn- 1 burg, star forward on the Merchants' ’ x quintet, was held to three field goals last night. , I The Leaders got away to a poor t start and were trailing 21-7 at the < end of the haif. Dec. 23 —-In their ojiening basket-ball game in Berne on Saturday evening the Berne Athletic team easily triumphed over the Rockford Ohio, independent team, winning the game by a score of 39 to 20. Berne easily outclassed the visiting team and showed the speed and team work ' .that was characteristic of the team 1 in the last few seasons. The score at the half period stood 19 to 8 in favor of Berne. Throughout the the local aggregation had little trouble in getting and holding a comfortable lead over the Buckeye team. The Berne team plays their next game on Saturday evening on the 10-1 cal floor with a fast college team, representing the Plymouth, Wisconsin, Mission House. S. varsity started out in a listless manner, missing many shots and losing the ball on fumbles and bad passes, but after the first five minutes they lightened up and .played bettor ball, llolthoitse scored first for the wint/ers on a field goal. Coach Confer’s men ran the score up to 21 to 0. before Studler, who had substituted for Holloway at forward, dropped a field goal for the' visitors. With the score standing 21-0, Coach Confer sent in three substitutes, A. Voglewede, Ijurent and Schulte replacing Gass, Holthouse and Christen, respectively. After Studler had caged his field goal. Laurent came back with a two-point-er, making the score stand 23-2 at the half. The three regulars returned to the game at the start of the second half and another scoring spree started.
