John Wildins, president, of the Fort Wa yne Printing Company was here on business today. M. D. Yonte of the Burford Company. Indianapolis, was here today attending to business and found time t 0 (| 0 some Christmas shopping, including in his purchase one of the finest Adams county turkey’s for his Christmas dinner. Cashier Smith of the Preble bank was attending tto business here this morning. John H. Carmody is suffering from a gathering in his ear which is causing him to feel Just wrong for the Christmas season. The Christmas cards this year are the most beautiful and attracive used since this popular and sensible form of remembering the season was started. Among the most unique is one sent out by Mr. L. C. Waring, with a beautiful color picture of his summer home on Manistique Lake, on the outside cover. Miss Adelaide Truelsch, of St. John was a shopper here this afternoon. Arthur Hyland, student of Notre Dame,at South Bend, is spending the Christmas vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Hyland. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Adams left this morning for Flint, Michigan, to spend Christmas with Mrs. Adams' father, Mr. Failing. Robert Nactrleb and Dick Archbold of Toledo will arrive in the city tomorrow night to spend Christmas with Dr .and Mrs. Roy Archbold and daughter Josephine. C. J. Naehtrieh of Toledo arrived last week for an over Cliristmas visit at the Archbold home. Ferd and Margaret Christen have arrived home from Purdue to spend their Christinas vacation witli their parents, Mr. and Mrs .E. S. Christen. Florence Magley. student at Purdue University arrived home yesterday to spend the Christmas vacation with her parents. Rowena Miller arrived home from Purdue yesterday to spend the Christmas vacation with her parents. Mrs. Lula Faulkenberg and son Victor of North Salem are visiting old friend? in Root township. Mrs. Catherine Ehinger was brought home yesterday from the*St. Joseph hospital, Ft. Wayne where she has been receiving medical treatment for the past three weeks. Mrs. Ehinger took ill while visiting her dauhgter, Mrs. Will Berling of Bluffton, but her condition is much improved now and she will be able Io enjoy Christmas with her children in this city. Dr. and Mrs. Vega, of Dayton. Ohio, are spending the Cliristmas vacation with Mrs. Vega’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Porter and sons, Bob and Jack, will motor to Green castle tomorrow to spend Christmas With Mr. and Mrs. John Cook and family. Dora Hendricks acted as toastmistress. After the dinner each guest drew a number and the snow mound revealed the heap of gifts, with which numbers were matched. The mound held surprise gifts for Miss Agnes Sellemeyer, the coach and referee, and Dora Hendricks, manager of the team. Miss Verena Miller announced that she would be unable to be with the team the remainder of the year. Other 1 members of her committee included 1 (Margaret Zwick, Jesteen Hocker, Fan Hammell, Mrs. Lucille Stalter and Mrs. Bernice Burk. Mrs. Marie Porter's committee presented the last stunt, "A Typical Meeting." The committee included the Misses Billy Butler, Marcella Kern and Mesdames, Midge Schrock. Faye Knapp, Lillian Burroughs, Ruby Lammiman and Helen Patterson. The exchange of gifts was held and each guest received a beautiful gift, after which a dainty repast was served. The girls employed tn the Court House and local abstract offices enjoyed their annual Christmas party and exchange In the Recorder’s office i last evening.
