Dec. 13 —(Special to Daily Democrat) —The state now has practically concluded its case against Lawrence M. Hight for the murder of Wilford Sweetin. and the prosecution has swung to Elsie Sweeti n who is accused of administering poison to her husband. Court has been adjourned until Monday, and then state will con- ' tinue presenting witnesses against the woman. The state's-.case against Hight practically was completed through admission as testimony of two confessions which Hight signed, Afte3 they had been admitted the prosecutors started the ground work for their charges against Mrs. Sweetin. The first witnesses were relatives and frjends of the woman, who told of the gossip which connected the names of Hight and Mrs. Sweetin. One aunt testified site had pleaded with Elsie to be careful and ‘‘get right with yourself." but the only answer was: “When I know I'm right I do not worry." Two farmers testified late Friday that they had been in the room shortly before Sweetin died and had seen Mrs. Sweetin give her husband a bowl of tomato soup over the protests of the sick man. The state contends that arsenic was given Sweetin n a bowl of soup. Mrs. Sweetin has •indicated a part
