Only two of the visiting players were former Berne stars, they being Whiteman, backgtttird. and Claude Clark, center. Juday, the Olympic star, was on the sidelines, but did not play. Many easy shots had gone astray during the opening period and ' the locals were playing loosely. As-1 ter the second half started, the Lead ' ers started bombarding the basket ' and they were dropping them in from all angles and distances when the game ended. Mendenhall, the former DePauw ace. collected a total of eleven field goals, before he was sent to the showers, his job well done. Rills, who teamed at forward with Mendenhall last night, sank eight goals from the field and three from the foul line. Oliver had tough luck shooting in the first half but got the correct range in the second period and sank three markers. Andrews, who entered The game late in the second half, sank three two-pointers, and Kennedy dropped in one beauty from long range. Crist played a beautiful game at back guard last night. The Leaders are assured of plenty of opposition next Tuesday night when the fast Kokomo Phi Dells come here for a game at the high school gym. The Kokomo quintet hotus a victors- over the speedy Muncie .Merchants who won a 35-32 decision over thhe Leaders here a week ago. Gullion wasn't in the Hartford City lineup last njght, however, which in away accounts for the Bluffton victors. The Leaders go t<> Bluffton on the night of Dec. 30, for a contest. At any rate, we think we will adopt the suggestion of a columnist in the Indiana Daily Student and make no predictions about the sue<ess of the two Hoosier Big Ten entrants this season and see if that will change their luck. — —-o — Bluffton Phi Belts Beat Hartford City Bluffton, Dec. 10—The Bluffton Phi Delts defeated the Hartford City Phi Delta here last night by the score of 29 to 25 in an interesting battle. The score at the half was 17 to 9 in the winners’ favor. o Tom Gibbons Easily Stops Kid Norfolk (United Press Service) Now York. Dec. 10.—Tom Gibbons proved himself the best light heavy in the world last night in (Madison Square Garden when he stopped Kid Norfolk in 55 seconds of the sixth round of a scheduled 15 round contest that was staged for the Christmas fund. I Gibbons not only established himsqlf as the most perfect fighter of his weight, but he earned a return bout with Jack Dempsey for the heavy weight championship. "That's my riext big bout. Dempsey and Gibbons. Gibbons has signed and I can get Dempsey," Tex Rickard said today.
