Licenses Issued To 26,500 Teachers In 1924 ((United Press Service)' Indianapolis, Doc. s.—Approximately 26.5(H) licenses were issued to tench ers in Indiana during the tiscnl year which ended September 30, 1924 in exchange for old licenses under the licensing law. ( Five-thousand-two hundred ninety teachers received new licenses during the year. also. This was the announcement made in the annual report today of the taacher's licensing division of the state department of public instruction. The Indiana State normal school, of Terre Haute, supplied more teachers who received new licenses during the year than any other school in the state .the report said. Teachers who graduated from this school and who received licenses during the year totaled 713. The Teacher's College of Indianapolis supplied 544. the next highest number. , Os the standard colleges in the state Indiana university supplied 504. more th.ft any other. The number coming from various standard normal s< bools in the state: Central Normal College. 328; East ern Division of the Indiana State Normal School. 352; Tri-State College. 141; and Valparaiso College. 128. The number supplied by the various standard Indiana Colleges were: Manchester college, 207; Purdue University. 205; Oakland City collego 173; DePauw university. 165; Evansville college. 104; Hanover college. 102; Indiana Central colege, C 2; Franklin college. 87; Earlham. 68; Wabash. 41; Sr. Mary’s college. 34; Notre Dame, 14; Goshen college. 13; and St. Mary’s of the Woods. 2. The new teacher’s licensing law’ under which the licenses were exchanged was passed by the last legislature and wont Into effect September 1923. The new law put new requirements 1 upon tuachers before they could obtain licenses and provided for the exchange of old licenses for new ones authorized in the provisions of the new law.
